If Snapchat works on mobile data but fails on Wi-Fi, the problem is specific to that Wi-Fi connection—not proof of a particular router or provider fault. Try the same action on both connections first; the result tells you which troubleshooting path to follow.
First, compare Wi-Fi with mobile data
Try the same Snapchat action—such as loading a Story or sending a Snap—once on Wi-Fi and once on mobile data. Snapchat recommends switching connections when troubleshooting app or camera problems. Snapchat’s troubleshooting guide also advises contacting your internet or mobile provider if changing connections resolves the issue.

If Snapchat fails on both connections
Work through Snapchat’s basic app and device troubleshooting steps in order:

- Close and reopen the app. Fully close Snapchat, then launch it again.
- Restart your phone. Turn the device off and back on, then retry the same action.

If Snaps will not send or load
For sending or loading problems, Snapchat recommends checking that you have a stable Wi-Fi connection or better cellular service, restarting the device, and clearing the app cache. Snapchat’s sending and loading guidance describes those steps. Cache clearing is one troubleshooting option for this symptom; it is not a guaranteed fix for every Wi-Fi problem.

- iOS: Settings → App & Privacy → My Privacy & Data → Manage My Data → Clear Cache → confirm Clear.
- Android: Settings → App & Privacy → My Privacy & Data → Clear Data → Clear Cache → confirm Clear.
App labels can change between versions, so use the closest matching cache control if the route differs. Snapchat states that clearing cache does not delete Memories, Snaps, or Chats. See its cache instructions.

If you cannot log in
Do not assume every login error is a Wi-Fi fault. Snapchat says some service-unavailable login errors can be caused by poor connectivity; for those, disconnect from Wi-Fi and try mobile data. Other codes may have different explanations, including account or device restrictions. Follow the instructions for the exact code in Snapchat’s login troubleshooting guide.

When to contact support
- The issue appears only on Wi-Fi: Contact your internet provider and explain that the same Snapchat action works on mobile data but fails on Wi-Fi.
- The issue persists across connections: After updating, reopening, restarting, and trying the symptom-specific steps, report the feature problem to Snapchat Support. Include what fails and any exact login error code.
