Snapchat’s public help pages do not define what a halo above a Bitmoji on Snap Map means. It is not confirmed to indicate a particular place, activity, relationship, or account status. Snapchat does document location badges and Actionmoji, but neither should be treated as an explanation for the halo without confirmation.
What Snapchat documents—and what it does not
Snapchat says a special location badge may appear when it thinks a person is at a place such as home or school. These badges can show by a friend’s name on Snap Map, in Friend Finder or Friends Feed, or beside a location in a Chat header. The help page does not identify a halo above the Bitmoji as one of those badges. Snapchat Support’s location-badge explanation also says only friends who share location with each other can see one another’s badges.
Snapchat separately describes Actionmoji as Bitmoji poses or activities that give friends a quick sense of what someone might be doing. Their appearance can draw on context such as general area, time of day, or movement. The Actionmoji help page does not say that a halo is an Actionmoji or assign it a meaning.

The available documentation does not establish whether it varies by app version, device, region, or account.

Do not treat the halo as a location or activity signal
Because Snapchat does not explain the halo, its appearance alone is not evidence that someone is at a specific place, active, sharing live location, or using a particular pose. The documented features are distinct: location badges relate to places Snapchat thinks a person may be at, while Actionmoji are poses or activities. Neither source connects those features to a halo.
Snapchat says “Now” beside a battery percentage means Snap Map location information is current. That is a separately documented indicator; the support page does not say a halo means the same thing.

Check your Map privacy settings
If your concern is who can see your location or documented badges, review the Map controls in Snapchat:

- Open Snapchat and go to Settings.
- Open My Privacy & Data, then Map.
- Review the location-badge toggle and your location-sharing choices. Snapchat says only friends you share location with can see your badges.
- If you want to limit Snap Map visibility, review the sharing controls or turn on Ghost Mode. Snap’s Privacy Features page explains that Map visibility depends on sharing choices and device location permission.
These controls address documented badges and location sharing; Snapchat does not say that changing them removes or explains a halo.

What you can control about a Bitmoji pose
Snapchat lets users choose a My Pose on Snap Map, and says a selected pose remains for four hours. Bitmoji Support also says a selected activity lasts four hours or until it is changed. These controls concern poses and activities, not a confirmed halo setting. See Bitmoji Support’s Snap Map guide for the activity option.

If the mark remains unexplained, note where it appears and share those details with Snapchat Support. Useful details include whether it is above your own Bitmoji or a friend’s, whether it is on the Map or in another screen, and whether it remains after reopening or updating Snapchat. These details help describe what you see; they do not by themselves identify what the halo means.
