The Smeg SIM1644DG is a 60 cm, four-zone induction hob with two flexible cooking areas, touch-slider controls and a substantial installation requirement: it is rated at 7,400 W and comes without a fitted plug. Its standout feature on paper is MultiZone, which combines adjacent zones for differently shaped cookware. Before buying, check the worktop cut-out, local electrical setup and—if you want automatic ventilation—the compatibility of your specific hood. The available specifications are from Smeg; they do not establish independent real-world performance.
What is the Smeg SIM1644DG?
Smeg identifies the SIM1644DG as a 60 cm Linea induction hob in Neptune Grey, with an Eclipse ceramic-glass finish and Evo Slider controls. It has four induction zones and two paired MultiZone areas. Smeg lists nine power levels, automatic pan detection, residual-heat indication, pause, child lock, keep-warm, timers and automatic switch-off. These are manufacturer-listed features, not independently tested results. Smeg’s product page and its UK product page provide regional product information.
How do the two MultiZone areas work?
Each MultiZone area is listed as 38.5 × 23.0 cm. Smeg describes the function as combining adjacent zones into a larger cooking area intended to accommodate different pan shapes and sizes. The company says: “The Multizone function guarantees maximum flexibility in the use of the hob and endless cooking possibilities, expanding the cooking area to suit the shape and size of different pans.” That is the manufacturer’s description; it is not evidence of independently measured heating uniformity or performance with particular cookware.

For individual zones, Smeg lists 2.10 kW and a 2.50 kW booster. Each paired MultiZone area is listed with a booster of up to 3.70 kW. The published specifications do not establish how quickly a particular pan or quantity of food will heat in a home kitchen.

Does it fit your worktop and electrical supply?
Check the opening and electrical requirements before ordering, rather than relying on the nominal 60 cm width alone. Smeg lists appliance dimensions of 53 × 600 × 510 mm and a worktop cut-out of 478–482 × 555–560 mm. Its product-information catalog record also lists 7,400 W nominal power, 33 A current, 220–240 V and 380–415 V supply values, 50/60 Hz frequency and no fitted plug. These are manufacturer specifications; they do not mean every listed cable or supply configuration is suitable for every home. See the SMEG SPA product-information catalog record.
- Measure the existing cut-out and confirm that the specified dimensions and required clearances work with your worktop and cabinetry.
- Have an installer check the local supply, wiring and installation instructions against the appliance’s electrical rating.
- Consult the current manual and installer about any power-limit setup before purchase if your supply has constraints.
What does Eco-logic Advance power limiting mean?
Smeg’s technical specifications give an adjustable range of 2,400 W to 7,400 W in 100 W steps. Its descriptive product page separately says Eco-logic Advance can limit absorption from 11.1 kW down to 1.4 kW. Those statements use different ranges and contexts; they should not be treated as interchangeable settings. Confirm the precise selectable limits and setup procedure in the current manual for your market, and have the installer assess whether a setting suits your supply.

What controls and safety functions are listed?
Smeg describes the Evo Slider controls as backlit and appearing when in use. That is a design feature, not proof of a particular ease-of-use experience. The specifications also list automatic pan detection with a minimum listed pan diameter of 9 cm, residual-heat indication, control lock, pause, keep-warm, timers and automatic switch-off. Overheat and overflow shutoff are also listed. These functions do not guarantee that burns, spills or other accidents cannot happen.

Can it control a compatible extractor hood?
Auto-Vent 2.0 connects the hob to a hood equipped with the same system by Bluetooth. Smeg says the hood adjusts automatically in response to hob use and settings. The feature depends on having a compatible hood; it does not mean a hood is included or that every extractor can connect. Check the exact hood model’s compatibility before buying.

What are its energy and grill specifications?
Smeg UK lists hob energy consumption of 193.8 Wh/kg, with zone label values of 191 Wh/kg for the front-left, 198 Wh/kg for the rear-left, 191 Wh/kg for the rear-right and 195 Wh/kg for the front-right. These are manufacturer-listed label figures, not an estimate of household electricity bills or an independent comparison with other hobs.
Smeg lists a grill function used with its GRILLPLATE or TPKPLATE accessories and says the grill function requires two minutes of preheating. That timing is a manufacturer claim, not an independently timed result. The product material also lists SCRP, a hob scraper, as an optional accessory. Confirm the regional part number and compatibility of any accessory listing before ordering; accessories are not established as included with the hob.

What warranty and availability should buyers expect?
Warranty terms depend on where the appliance is sold. Smeg’s general page states that goods sold within the European Union have a minimum statutory warranty of two years. Smeg UK says the appliance qualifies for a five-year warranty assistance package covering parts and labour, subject to its terms and redemption details. The UK offer should not be assumed to apply in other countries. Check current local warranty terms, seller conditions, price and stock before purchase.
Who should consider the SIM1644DG?
It is worth considering if you want a 60 cm induction hob with four zones and two manufacturer-specified flexible areas, and your kitchen can accommodate its cut-out and electrical requirements. The most important practical decision points are fit, supply compatibility and whether you have a compatible hood if Auto-Vent 2.0 matters to you. The specifications establish what Smeg lists, but not how the hob performs in independent cooking tests or how owners rate it in long-term use.
