Find Isao beneath the red bridge at Mistfall Harbor after dark. His fishing quest is reported to have three stages: catch the Drowned Lure nearby, hand over the fish he requests, then fish at a downstream waterfall ledge with the lure equipped. Guides disagree on the exact fish count, so use Isao’s active dialogue and quest counter—not an older guide—as the final authority.
Unlock fishing and get the required rod
Recent third-party guides report that fishing unlocks at level 45. Speak to Dock Master Sofen near the shrine at Mistfall Harbor and complete the permit quest using the objective currently shown in-game. Then buy a Basic Fishing Rod from Fisherman Jeso; one guide lists its price as 3,500 Wen. Keep the Basic Rod, because guides specify it for the Drowned Lure step. Quest errands and prices may change with updates, so follow the live quest instructions and vendor display.
Stage 1: Catch the Drowned Lure
- Go to the red bridge area at Mistfall Harbor at night and locate the water spout.
- Find the rocky ledge across the water from the spout.
- Use the Basic Fishing Rod with no bait equipped. Complete the fishing minigame successfully; two guides report that five successful catches yield the Drowned Lure.
- Keep the lure for the final stage. It is described as reusable.
Stage 2: Find Isao and deliver his fish
Return to the red bridge after dark and speak with Isao beneath it. Guides identify his requested species as Crustadon and Krathulon, but their counts conflict:
| Guide | Reported request |
|---|---|
| NerdsChalk and TipsMake | Two Crustadon and two Krathulon |
| slayer2.org | Two Crustadon and one Krathulon |
No official game documentation in the available sources resolves the discrepancy. Check Isao’s current dialogue and quest counter before collecting or handing in fish, and do not sell or consume fish the active request needs. After the hand-in, finish Isao’s dialogue so the next stage registers.

- The battle of Tanjiro Kamado will again unfold …
Optional rod upgrade
One guide says other rods and bait can be used to catch the requested fish and describes a Rare Rod upgrade costing five Golden Fish plus 10,000 Wen. This upgrade is optional; check Fisherman Jeso’s current item and price display rather than relying on an older cost.
Stage 3: Fish at the waterfall ledge
- Follow the river downstream from the bridge toward the waterfall area. Guides describe a tree beside a rocky or grassy ledge overlooking the water; landmarks vary, so use Isao’s clue and any in-game progress cue.
- Equip the Drowned Lure as bait before casting. Carrying it without selecting it may not meet the requirement.
- Fish from the ledge and check the game’s progress feedback. One guide reports a location-confirmation message after a successful catch.
Quest rewards and reported item stats
Guides report that the Drowned Lure is obtained during the opening stage and that completing the quest awards the Legendary Fishing Rod and Legendary Fisherman title.

It lists the title as 1.07× fishing luck (+7%), 1.05× bite speed (+5%), and 1.06× breath duration (+6%). These are third-party guide values, not independently verified official stats; rely on the current in-game tooltip if exact numbers matter.

- Use Sofen’s current permit objective and Jeso’s displayed prices, since guide details may date quickly.
- Use Isao’s live request and quest counter to settle the conflicting fish counts.
- Confirm the Drowned Lure is equipped at the waterfall ledge and watch for progress feedback.
