Skip customers can now reach Instacart’s grocery and retail marketplace through the Skip app, while Instacart customers can order from Skip restaurant partners in the Instacart app. The reciprocal integration launched in Canada on October 6, 2026, according to the companies’ announcement.
What the Skip–Instacart partnership does
The partnership connects two different kinds of orders rather than combining the apps into one checkout: grocery and retail orders start in Skip and move to Instacart, while restaurant orders from Skip partners start in Instacart and are delivered by Skip couriers.
| Where you start | What you can order | How it works | Who fulfills the order |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skip app | Groceries and retail items from participating Instacart marketplace retailers | Tap the grocery icon, choose an available retailer, then continue to Instacart to see the live catalog and place the order. | An Instacart shopper picks the order in-store. |
| Instacart app | Restaurant meals from participating Skip partners | Tap the restaurant icon, choose a Skip restaurant, then follow the in-app checkout prompts. | A Skip courier delivers the order. |
Ordering groceries and retail through Skip
How the grocery flow works
- Open Skip and tap the grocery icon.
- Browse the Instacart retail banners available to you and select one.
- Continue to Instacart’s platform to browse its live catalog and check out.
The companies say an Instacart shopper picks the order at the store, including selecting produce, checking expiry dates, offering substitutions, and handling fragile items. Availability and the live product selection may vary by location; check what appears in the app before placing an order.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsMarketplace size reported at launch
In their October 6, 2026 announcement, Skip and Instacart said the Skip flow would provide access to more than 130 retail banners and over 9,000 locations in Canada. Those figures describe the marketplace locations available through this connection as reported by the companies, not a guarantee that every location serves every address.
Ordering Skip restaurants through Instacart
In Instacart, tap the restaurant icon, choose a participating Skip restaurant, and complete checkout using the app’s prompts. The announcement says the order is delivered by a Skip courier. Skip and Instacart reported that more than 50,000 national and local restaurant partners would become available to Instacart customers; this is a company figure from the October 2026 launch announcement, not a count of restaurants necessarily available in your area.

What happened to the launch discount?
Skip described a launch offer of 40% off an eligible Instacart-powered Skip order of $35 or more, up to $15 off, available from launch while supplies lasted. The offer applied through Skip’s “Groceries Powered by Instacart” tab; the $35 minimum was before taxes, tips, and service fees, and alcohol and other age-restricted items did not count toward the minimum and were ineligible. The offer was non-transferable, had no cash value, and could be changed or cancelled without notice. Because the announcement was dated October 6, 2026, it does not establish that the promotion is still active; check the app for current availability and terms.

What the announcement does—and does not—establish
The integration is a way to access Instacart retail ordering from Skip and Skip restaurant ordering from Instacart. It does not establish that every retailer or restaurant is available in every Canadian city, that a particular delivery time or service quality is guaranteed, or that the launch discount or membership treatment will remain unchanged. The companies also cite broader network figures—Skip said it had more than 50,000 local restaurant, grocery, convenience, and retail partners across over 450 cities and towns, while Instacart said it had more than 2,200 retail banners and nearly 100,000 stores company-wide. Those are separate company background figures, not counts of locations included in this specific integration.
