There is no evidence-based universal winner between SiteGround and IONOS. SiteGround’s listed introductory WordPress prices are lower than the IONOS WordPress offers surfaced here, but both providers raise prices after the first term. The better fit depends on the exact plan, renewal cost, site and storage limits, and how much migration help you need. No controlled head-to-head performance or support comparison establishes which provider is faster or offers better support.

Compare the exact hosting products, not just the brand names

SiteGround’s figures below are for its WordPress hosting plans. IONOS sells both a distinct WordPress hosting product and a general web-hosting product; their tiers are not interchangeable. The prices and limits are provider-published figures from official pages surfaced in October 2026, and offers can change. Check the current terms and total at checkout before buying.

Product and plan Introductory price and term Stated renewal Sites and storage Other stated limits or qualifications
SiteGround WordPress StartUp $2.99/month, prepaid for 12 months $17.99/month 1 website; 10 GB Visit counts are approximate references, not restrictions; resource use is monitored under fair-use terms. SiteGround plan page
SiteGround WordPress GrowBig $4.99/month, prepaid for 12 months $29.99/month Unlimited websites within plan resource limits; 50 GB Visit counts are approximate references, not restrictions; resource use is monitored under fair-use terms. SiteGround plan page
SiteGround WordPress GoGeek $7.99/month, prepaid for 12 months $44.99/month Unlimited websites within plan resource limits; 100 GB Visit counts are approximate references, not restrictions; resource use is monitored under fair-use terms. SiteGround plan page

IONOS’s WordPress page also lists one, five, and ten email accounts across its plans, but the surfaced offer examples do not identify which email allowance maps to each price. Confirm the specific plan’s storage, email, backups, security features, and included tools rather than assuming an offer includes a particular tier.

Which provider is cheaper over time?

The introductory price alone does not settle the cost comparison. SiteGround states its plan rates renew at substantially higher monthly prices after a 12-month prepaid first term. The surfaced IONOS examples likewise show higher renewal rates after a one-year term. Compare what you will pay across your intended ownership period, including the renewal term and any taxes or add-ons that apply; the figures above do not establish a like-for-like total for every plan.

Check website count, storage, and resource limits

StartUp is SiteGround’s listed one-site option. GrowBig and GoGeek list unlimited websites, but that does not mean unlimited server resources: SiteGround says accounts are monitored for fair use and may face limits if they exceed their share for a sustained period. IONOS’s WordPress plans vary in storage and performance level. Match the plan to your actual site count and storage needs, then verify its resource terms.

Keep IONOS product families separate

IONOS’s general shared web-hosting page has a different tier structure, with changing site counts, storage, databases, resources, and daily backup/restore features. It also advertises one-year introductory prices that later increase. Those details describe general web hosting, not the separately marketed WordPress plans. IONOS advertises 99.99% uptime on its shared-hosting page; that is the provider’s claim, not an independently verified result or a guarantee of an individual site’s availability. How much migration help is included?

The documented migration arrangements differ, which can matter if you already have a site to move.

SiteGround: plugin or manual transfer

SiteGround documents a WordPress Migrator plugin that it says can transfer multiple WordPress sites from another host at no extra cost. It also describes manual migration, including transferring application databases and website files and configuring the transferred site. The plugin route is specifically for WordPress sites; do not assume it covers every application or custom setup. SiteGround migration guidance (last updated August 5, 2026)

IONOS: manual migration is outside WordPress support scope

IONOS lists product and setup guidance as included in its WordPress support scope, but excludes manual migration of a site to IONOS WordPress hosting. If your move needs hands-on transfer work, determine who will perform it and whether a paid service is needed before switching. IONOS WordPress support scope

Which host is faster or has better support?

The official information available here does not establish a controlled SiteGround-versus-IONOS speed or uptime comparison. SiteGround describes performance claims based on its own comparisons of migrated sites with other providers, but those claims are not a direct head-to-head study against IONOS. IONOS’s 99.99% uptime statement applies to its general shared-hosting page and should be read as an IONOS claim, not an independent finding.

Both providers advertise support availability, but the available pages do not supply matched response-time or resolution-quality results. A meaningful comparison would need matched WordPress installations, page configurations, test locations, and measurement periods for performance, plus comparable support tests. Without that evidence, claims that one is faster or provides better support would be speculation.

How to choose for your site

  • Choose by total cost: compare the first-term payment with the stated renewal and the number of years you expect to host the site.
  • Choose by capacity: match website count, storage, and plan resource terms to your current needs and likely growth.
  • Check included features: verify the exact plan’s backups, security controls, email allowance, and developer tools rather than inferring them from a starting price.
  • Account for migration: SiteGround documents a no-extra-cost WordPress Migrator plugin; IONOS’s WordPress support scope excludes manual migration. Decide who will handle any transfer work.
  • Treat performance and support as unresolved: the available material does not provide comparable independent evidence to choose a winner on either measure.
