Punjab had completed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in 55 of its 117 Assembly constituencies, according to Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra, as reported by Hindustan Times on October 2, 2026. The same report said statewide work was 99.21% complete. These are different measures: the percentage describes reported work progress, while the constituency count identifies seats where the exercise was reported complete.
What the October 2 update reported
The reported SIR 2026 progress in Punjab was:
- 55 of 117 Assembly constituencies had completed the exercise.
- 99.21% of work statewide was reported complete. This was a progress snapshot, not a statement that the remaining work was finished.
Hindustan Times attributed both figures to Punjab CEO Anindita Mitra in its October 2, 2026 report. The figures should not be treated as interchangeable: a statewide work percentage does not show how many constituencies had formally completed the exercise.
Which districts were reported complete?
The report named eight districts where SIR was complete:
- Moga
- Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (SBS Nagar)
- Mansa
- Tarn Taran
- Faridkot
- Sangrur
- Patiala
- Malerkotla
It did not publish a constituency-by-constituency list of the 55 completed seats. The district names therefore cannot be used to infer the full roster of constituencies.

What electors with pending notices or documents were told
For cases involving notices where hearings or document submissions were still pending, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were to contact electors and collect required documents directly where applicable. The arrangement was intended to avoid requiring electors to visit Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) offices for those matters. Mitra told Hindustan Times: “This arrangement will save electors from having to visit the offices of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) for personal hearings and submission of documents, wherever applicable.”
Camps were reported for the coming weekend in constituencies with remaining pendency. District Election Officer (DEO) and ERO offices across Punjab were also reported to have help desks for electoral-roll questions and concerns. These arrangements describe the October 2 update; check with the local election office for current schedules and procedures.
