Sindh Excise advertises online account services for vehicle registration and transfer-related tasks, and its FAQ explains how to pay motor-vehicle tax online. But official sources do not confirm that these services began in January 2025, or that every registration or ownership transfer can be completed entirely online. Check the current portal for the workflow that applies to your vehicle, and observe the statutory deadlines for reporting a sale and transferring ownership.
Did Sindh launch online registration and transfer services in January 2025?
The official sources available do not verify a January 2025 launch date. The Sindh Excise account-registration page says an account can be used for online tax payment, transfers, mutation, alteration, verification and registration. Its FAQ, however, describes online motor-vehicle tax payment; it does not establish that every registration or transfer is fully digital from start to finish.
The Excise Sindh app listing describes online registration and lists later features, including e-Card generation and sold-vehicle transfer requests. Its release notes include updates dated November and December 2025, but those notes do not establish a January 2025 launch or uninterrupted availability since then. A Sindh Assembly record for a sitting on 26 January 2026 says department online services can be accessed through its official website and reports that cash transactions at Motor Registration Authorities were removed. For current instructions, use the official portal rather than assuming that a past announcement or app feature describes today’s process.
What can you do through the online account?
Register and manage an account
The registration page requests personal and contact information, including name, email, mobile number, CNIC, province, city and address. It says an account provides access to registration and transfer-related services as well as tax payment. The page does not provide a complete, transaction-specific checklist, so confirm any additional requirements for your vehicle through the live service.

Pay motor-vehicle tax
The FAQ describes adding multiple vehicles to an account, viewing tax details, calculating charges and generating a PSID for payment. It says a confirmation SMS is sent to the registered mobile number after successful payment. A tax payment is not, by itself, proof that an ownership transfer or registration has been completed.
Check the app listing for app-described features
The department’s app listing describes online registration and later additions such as e-Card generation and requests to transfer sold vehicles. Treat these as app-described functions at the release points listed, not as confirmation that a particular transaction can be completed without an in-person follow-up.

What are the legal deadlines when selling a vehicle in Sindh?
The Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2024, published as Sindh Act No. I of 2025, sets two separate deadlines:
- Report the sale within 30 days: The seller and purchaser must report the sale to the registering authority for transfer of ownership and issuance of a new registration ownership certificate.
- Complete the purchaser’s transfer within 15 days after reporting: The Act makes the purchaser responsible for completing the transfer within this period.
The Act states: “Within thirty (30) days of sale of any motor vehicle, the seller and purchaser shall report such sale of motor vehicle for transfer of ownership to the registering authority for issuance of new ownership certificate of registration as may be prescribed.” The Act also sets daily penalties and maximum caps for defaults that vary by engine-capacity band. Check the relevant band in the official Act; there is no single penalty rate that applies to every vehicle.

How should you check fees and the current process?
- Open the Sindh Excise portal or the department’s motor-vehicle tax page. Use the live service for current instructions rather than relying on an old announcement or an app release note.
- Enter the vehicle details requested by the service. The applicable charges and steps may depend on the vehicle and transaction.
- Review the displayed calculation and payment instructions before paying. The FAQ describes charge calculation and PSID generation for tax payment; do not assume that this is the complete procedure for a registration or transfer.
- Confirm completion of the specific transaction. Follow any additional directions shown by the department, including any required follow-up with the registering authority.
The department says motor-vehicle tax is levied under the Sindh Motor Vehicle Taxation Act, 1958 and Motor Vehicle Rules, 1959, and its motor-vehicle tax page lists registration-fee categories and transfer-fee information. Because charges and procedures can change, check the current page or portal calculation for your vehicle instead of relying on an estimate.
