The Simba Simbatex Cool is a 23cm, all-foam mattress that Expert Reviews found supportive and particularly good at limiting movement across the bed. But its “Cool” name comes with a caveat: the reviewer’s hot-sleeping partner felt clammy within about an hour, so it is not a dependable pick for very hot sleepers. Its weak edge support is another trade-off. The review’s verdict is that it may suit budget-conscious back sleepers and couples who value motion isolation, but sleeper position and heat sensitivity matter.
What is the Simba Simbatex Cool?
Unlike Simba’s hybrid mattresses, which contain springs, the Simbatex Cool is an all-foam model. Jo Plumridge’s Expert Reviews article, published on 29 September 2026, describes a 23cm mattress with a soft, breathable zip-off cover, an open-cell graphite-infused Simbatex foam comfort layer, a flat foam support layer and a ridged, seven-zone foam base. Plumridge judged its feel to be medium-firm.

Is it comfortable, and who is it best for?
Plumridge said the foam cushioned her hips and shoulders and that she and her husband particularly liked the mattress for back sleeping. Those impressions are personal, not a promise that every sleeper will find its medium-firm feel comfortable.
Back sleepers
Back sleeping was the strongest match in the review. The reviewer found the mattress supportive in this position, making it a plausible budget option for back sleepers who like a medium-firm feel.
Side sleepers
The reviewer and her husband described themselves as lightweight, and Plumridge initially found the mattress too firm on her side. She thought the foam might soften with use, while suggesting average- and heavier-weight side sleepers may find it comfortable from the outset. Treat that as the reviewer’s expectation rather than a guarantee; body weight and firmness preference affect how a mattress feels.

Stomach sleepers
Plumridge did not recommend it for stomach sleeping. She judged that the hip support might be insufficient to keep the spine aligned, so stomach sleepers should be cautious about choosing it based on the back-sleeping results.
Does it keep you cool?
Not reliably enough for very hot sleepers, according to the review. Simba describes Simbatex as open-cell, graphite-infused foam and claims it has “over 5x more airflow” than standard memory foam. Its official page says that comparison followed Intertek testing in May 2025 against nine memory foams from three UK manufacturers using ISO 7231 Method B. That is a manufacturer-described foam comparison for its Cool Foam topper; it is not an independent overnight test of this mattress: Simba Cool Foam topper.
In Plumridge’s household, the hot-sleeping partner felt clammy within about an hour. The review also reports temperature tests in a room at 28.5°C: a body-heat reading fell from 30°C to 27.8°C after three minutes and stayed there through ten minutes; a heat pad’s reading fell from 50°C to 29.1°C after three minutes and 27°C after ten minutes. The reviewer noted that the room was unusually warm, which matters when interpreting those results. The measurements and the partner’s overnight experience point to different things: brief test readings do not establish that the mattress will keep a hot sleeper comfortable all night.

How well does it isolate movement and support the edges?
Motion isolation
Motion isolation was a clear strength for Plumridge. She said she barely felt her husband or foster cat moving, which may appeal to couples or anyone who shares a bed with a restless sleeper.
Edge support
Edge support was a weakness. Plumridge felt pronounced sinkage when sitting at the edge and suspected heavier users might feel less secure. The review measured 13mm of sinkage under 10kg at shoulder height and 12mm under 10kg three inches from the edge. Those are results from the publication’s test setup, not a guarantee of how the mattress will respond to every person’s weight or position.

Expert Reviews reported free delivery in around three days. Plumridge said the mattress was ready to sleep on after about six hours, recommended allowing 24–72 hours for full expansion and noticed off-gassing for a few days.

The same review reported a 200-night sleep trial and a 10-year guarantee. Those terms are not confirmed here for every current Amazon listing. Check the exact product listing and seller terms before buying, especially the return process and any conditions attached to the trial or guarantee.
Is the Simba Simbatex Cool a good budget mattress?
It is a budget proposition, but whether it is good value depends on what matters most to you. The review’s double price was £399 on 29 September 2026; compare current prices for the same size before deciding, since promotions and availability can change.

- Consider it if: you want an all-foam mattress, mainly sleep on your back, share a bed and value low motion transfer, and do not rely on strong edge support or cooling.
- Think carefully if: you are a side sleeper who prefers a softer feel, since the lightweight reviewer found it initially too firm.
- Look elsewhere if: you sleep on your stomach, are very sensitive to heat, or need a secure-feeling edge.

How the review assessed the mattress
Plumridge said she slept on the mattress and assessed comfort, support, temperature regulation and motion isolation. The article also describes tests using four 2.5kg weights added progressively, with sinkage measured at shoulder height and three inches from the edge, an edge-tilt assessment, and body-heat and heat-pad readings taken with a digital thermometer over time.
