Signal Veil is an announced third-person psychological survival horror game from Time Hunters and Serafini Productions. Its publisher describes a 1990s anime-inspired look and a supernatural story about a teenager investigating disappearances with a haunted cellphone. The comparison to Serial Experiments Lain and Jujutsu Kaisen is a useful shorthand for its themes and genre, not confirmation of a crossover or adaptation.
What is Signal Veil?
Signal Veil is a single-player survival horror game in which Aki Mizuno, a teenager whose mother has disappeared, investigates unexplained disappearances and the truth about herself at Nishikawa High School. Her mother leaves her a cellphone with supernatural abilities, making the device central to both the story and the way players discover danger.

Is Signal Veil based on Serial Experiments Lain or Jujutsu Kaisen?
No official listing identifies either anime as source material, and the announcement does not present the game as a licensed crossover or adaptation. The comparison works as an editorial shorthand: Serial Experiments Lain evokes techno-horror and questions of identity and reality, while Jujutsu Kaisen suggests supernatural threats. Those associations should not be mistaken for confirmed developer inspirations.

How does the supernatural cellphone work?
Aki’s phone reacts to spiritual presences and lingering memories. It vibrates, produces unusual sounds, and shows interference, helping players detect enemies, corrupted areas, and clues. The phone is a fictional in-game tool; the official descriptions do not establish a requirement for a real-world phone or accessory.

Finding and fighting enemies
Hostile entities must be exposed before they can be fought. The phone therefore serves as a detection tool rather than simply a weapon: players use its signals to identify threats and then respond with the game’s mystical weapons.
Managing fear and supplies
Players are expected to manage limited medicine, key items, and mystical weapons. Aki’s emotional state can distort her perception and affect the environment and enemy behavior, tying the psychological horror to the way encounters unfold.

Steam labels the release “To be announced,” while the PlayStation listing says “Release date to be determined.” Steam also says the game is not yet available; the PlayStation page lists it as announced and offers a wishlist option.
