Sienna Miller says her 2007 visit to India was part of a climate-awareness campaign for Global Cool, and that she went to Mumbai’s Dharavi while working with Bollywood stars including Amitabh Bachchan. Looking back in an interview published by Hindustan Times on October 3, 2026, Miller called the trip “really enlightening” and said she loved the people she met.

Why Sienna Miller visited India in 2007

According to Miller’s recollection as reported by Hindustan Times, she came to India in 2007 as an ambassador for Global Cool, a climate advocacy group. The campaign aimed to raise awareness of climate issues and lobby for legislative change.

Miller described the purpose this way: “I think India is the most incredible country, and I have been to many other places as well, apart from the slums in Mumbai. We were going there to get legislation changed around climate change.”

What she remembers about Dharavi and Amitabh Bachchan

Miller recalled visiting Mumbai’s Dharavi during the trip. Hindustan Times describes the locality as “Asia’s largest slum”; that characterization is the publication’s wording, rather than a claim independently established here.

She also said she teamed up with Bollywood stars including Amitabh Bachchan. Salman Khan is named in the interview among the stars she met. Miller’s account does not specify what each person did, so it establishes involvement at the level she described—not a particular endorsement, donation, or policy action by Bachchan.

“I teamed up with lots of Bollywood stars, including Amitabh Bachchan. It was a really enlightening trip.”

How Miller describes India and the people she met

Miller spoke warmly about the country and her encounters there: “India is such a rapidly growing economy. It’s such a huge part of the world. It’s got a much bigger film industry than anywhere else in the world. It’s an incredible place, and I loved seeing it. I loved the people that I met, and I would love to spend more time there.”
