Siege of Akanor is a Windows PC castle-defense game planned for Steam in November 2026. North Sun Games describes a mix of wave-by-wave fortification planning and direct third-person combat, with solo, co-op, story, and attacking-side play. COGconnected reported a specific release date of November 6, 2026; check the Steam listing for the current schedule and regional price.

How Siege of Akanor plays

The game alternates between preparation and battle. Between waves, you spend limited gold on choices such as recruiting troops, placing traps and barricades, reinforcing the gate, or improving your own equipment. When the attack starts, you fight on the battlefield rather than managing the defense solely from a distant view.

North Sun Games describes sword combos, bow combat, dodge, guard, parry, mounted and on-foot fighting, and nine mana abilities. Its page lists 16 enemy types, including rams, climbers, commanders, scouts, and a Warlord that appears every fifth wave. The developer also describes attacks from multiple fronts, catapults, and player-operated siege engines.

Other features listed by the developer include troop promotions for units that survive a wave, upgradeable defenses, three battlefields, and changing conditions such as day and night, four seasons, rain, and snow. In relic mode, players choose relics at the end of a wave. These are the developer’s descriptions; they are not independent play or performance findings.

Mythic Games, 6: Siege The Board Game Bundle: Concrete City - Map Pack 1, Dead End - Map Pack 2, Sand and Dust - Map Pack 3 (3 Items)
  • Bundle includes three expansions with six unique maps to expand your battlefield.
  • Concrete City introduces Kafé and Bank, each with contrasting playstyles and tactical depth.
  • Dead End features Oregon and Chalet, designed for vertical maneuvers and long-range encounters.
  • Sand and Dust delivers Coastline and Border, mixing open firefights with intense close-quarters action.
  • Comes with mission booklets for each map, ensuring replayability and strategic variety.

Available modes and co-op

The developer lists several distinct ways to play:

  • Story campaign: Six chapters following Lucian Kaelar.
  • Classic and relic modes: Wave-defense options, with relic choices in relic mode.
  • Counted or endless waves: Choose a finite run or continue for an endless leaderboard challenge.
  • Co-op defense: Defend with up to four players. Rooms can be public or password-protected private rooms.
  • Horde side: Play as part of the attacking force rather than defending the castle.

That range may suit players looking for a story-led solo run, repeatable defense sessions, group play, or an attacking role. No independent comparison of these modes was established in the available coverage.

PC requirements and expected performance

North Sun Games lists Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). Its hardware guidance is framed around target settings, not independently measured benchmarks:

Rank #3
War of The Ring: The Fate of Erebor – Card Game Expansion by Ares Games 2-4 Players – 120 Minutes of Gameplay – Card Games for Teens and Adults Ages 14+ - English Version
  • What if the Battle of Five Armies was lost by the Free Peoples, and Dain never became King Under the Mountain? What if the Dwarves of the Iron Hills were just the scattered survivors of their kin, fighting a strenuous battle to defend their homes? What if Dale was never rebuilt?
  • When playing the War of the Ring boardgame, we assume the "historical" outcome for the Battle of Five Armies. The Fate of Erebor is a variant for War of the Ring which you play assuming the Shadow player won the Battle of Five Armies, changing the course of history drastically.
  • Orcs settle in the Lonely Mountain and establish a stronghold there. Dwarves remain in the Iron Hills, but their community is far from thriving. In the wake of the lost battle, Laketown is no more, and the Kingdom of Dale is never re-established, only ruins remaining. How much can the Fate of Erebor change the course of the War of the Ring? You can find out, playing this variant.
  • In this mini expansion set for the War of the Ring boardgame, you can find all you need to "adapt" the game to this possible outcome of the Battle of Five Armies.
  • This is not a stand-alone game. A copy of War of the Ring (2nd Edition) is required to play.
Tier Developer guidance Target

Recommended Dedicated GPU from the last few years; eight CPU cores; 16 GB RAM 1080p, maximum settings

The developer says the game benchmarks the PC on first run and adjusts quality automatically. That is a developer-stated feature, not a guarantee that every system will reach the listed target smoothly.

Gamepad support

North Sun Games says the game has full gamepad support, including Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam Deck button glyphs. Its FAQ says a complete match and the menus can be played with a gamepad. A controller is optional; the available information does not identify a recommended model or establish compatibility for a particular third-party controller.
