Buy the Galaxy S26 now if your current phone needs replacing and the live price or your personal trade-in quote makes sense. If your phone still works well, waiting is reasonable: Samsung’s launch and spring promotions show that discounts have happened, but they do not establish when another sale will occur or how large it will be.

A Samsung US listing captured in September 2026 showed these unlocked Galaxy S26 prices and a direct trade-in offer. Because Tom’s Guide reported a price increase on October 1, 2026, treat the listing as a dated reference and check Samsung’s live checkout total before making a decision.

Past offers show why waiting can be worthwhile—but not certain
Samsung’s limited US launch offer in February 2026 advertised up to $900 in eligible instant trade-in credit, or $150 without a trade-in toward eligible devices. That was a pre-order promotion, not a current offer. Samsung’s launch announcement describes its terms.
On April 8, 2026, TechRadar reported a promotion of $100 off the S26 and S26+, $200 off the S26 Ultra, and up to $720 in trade-in rebates. Those dated discounts demonstrate that offers changed after launch; they do not guarantee that the same promotion will return. TechRadar’s April 8 report covers that promotion.

How to compare a trade-in with buying outright
Do not use the maximum advertised credit as though it were your personal offer. Enter the precise make, model, and condition of your old phone in the current trade-in flow and use the resulting quote. Then compare what you will actually pay for the new phone.
- Get the live unlocked price. Check the exact Galaxy S26 storage configuration and total at checkout.
- Get your device-specific trade-in quote. Review the eligible model and condition details; the captured Samsung listing advertised up to $340, but the maximum is not a guaranteed valuation for every phone.
- Calculate the net cost. Subtract only the confirmed trade-in value or instant discount from the phone price. Include any optional costs you genuinely need, such as a compatible USB-C charger; the charger is not included in the box.
- Compare offers on the same basis. For a carrier promotion, check the required plan, financing period, credit timing, and total payments before comparing its headline value with an immediate unlocked-phone discount.
Samsung’s September-captured product page showed AT&T and T-Mobile offers of up to $1,100 in bill credits. That headline amount is not equivalent to $1,100 off at checkout: eligibility and credit terms vary, and the credits may be tied to the carrier arrangement. - Confirm the price for your selected storage size and unlocked model at live checkout; the September 2026 listing may no longer reflect the price after the October report.
- Verify your personal trade-in value, including the accepted model and condition requirements, rather than budgeting around an advertised maximum.
- For carrier credits, account for the plan requirement, financing duration, credit schedule, and total payments.
- If waiting, do so because your existing phone is usable—not because past promotions prove another particular discount is coming.
