If you need a camera now, the Fujifilm X-T5 is a reasonable choice if its published features and current local price fit your needs. Fujifilm still lists it in its US X Series catalog, and a Fujifilm US representative told Digital Camera World that the X-T5 “has not been discontinued.” The reviewed evidence does not confirm an X-T6 announcement, release date, price, or specifications—so wait only if your current camera is working and you are comfortable with an open-ended wait.
What is confirmed about the X-T6?
There is no confirmed X-T6 to compare against the X-T5 in the available official information. Fujifilm’s US X Series catalog lists the X-T5, while Digital Camera World reports that Fujifilm US said the X-T5 “has not been discontinued.” The publication does not name the representative.
TechRadar describes an X-T6 as rumored, but rumors do not establish a product name, launch timing, price, or features. Fujifilm’s catalog is a snapshot, not proof that the company cannot announce a successor later. Check Fujifilm’s official product and news pages if you decide to wait; do not base a purchase decision on rumored specifications.
What does the X-T5 offer today?
Fujifilm’s UK eShop lists these manufacturer specifications for the X-T5. Regional product bundles and availability may differ.

How should you decide: buy, wait, or compare?
Buy the X-T5 now if you need a camera soon
If a camera is needed for paid work, travel, or a planned project, an unannounced successor is not a dependable purchasing option. Buy the X-T5 if its confirmed capabilities meet your requirements and you can find it at a price that makes sense. Check local stock, and compare the body-only cost with a kit lens you would genuinely use.

Wait if your current camera is still doing the job
If you can keep using your present camera and would rather evaluate a possible successor, waiting lets you assess Fujifilm’s official announcement if and when one appears. There is no confirmed date to wait for, so this choice means accepting indefinite uncertainty—not holding out for a known launch.
Compare the full purchase, not just the camera body
Before deciding, weigh these factors:
- Urgency: whether you need a camera before any official successor information arrives.
- Use: whether the X-T5’s published stills and video specifications suit your work.
- Handling: whether its weight, screen design, and card compatibility fit how you shoot.
- Total kit cost: compare the body price with a lens bundle you would actually use, including the cost of any lens you still need.
- Uncertainty: whether the possibility of future features is worth delaying a purchase without a confirmed announcement or price.
What price information is available?
Digital Camera World reported on October 5, 2026, that Adorama offered the X-T5 with the XF 16-50mm F2.8-4.8 R LM WR lens for $2,199, reduced from $2,399. The same report said the body-only version remained at list price and B&H had a deal with different bundled extras. Not yet on the confirmed evidence available here. Without official X-T6 specifications, timing, and pricing, a feature-by-feature or value comparison would require treating rumors as facts. The useful choice is between a documented camera you can buy now and waiting for official information that may arrive later.
