The Shark Navigator Pet ZU62ANZ is a corded upright with adjustable suction, hard-floor and carpet settings, and a brushroll Shark describes as self-cleaning. Those features make it worth considering if you want an upright with tools for upholstery and crevices, but the available evidence does not establish how well it removes pet hair compared with other vacuums: Shark’s claims are not independent test results, and CHOICE’s public listing does not reveal its expert rating or detailed pros and cons.

What does the Shark Navigator Pet ZU62ANZ offer?
Shark describes the ZU62 as a corded upright with hard-floor and carpet settings, minimum-to-maximum suction adjustment, and a self-cleaning brushroll. Its regional product page says the brushroll’s bristle guard helps separate and remove hair and keep the roll tangle-free. That is a manufacturer claim, not a guarantee that hair will never wrap or that the vacuum will outperform another model. The figures come from different sources and should not be combined as if they were measured the same way. In particular, the 1.6 L Shark capacity and CHOICE’s 3.8 L measured dust-collector volume differ substantially; the accessible information does not explain the difference in definitions or methods. Likewise, cord length, hose length and measured reach describe different things. Watts indicate electrical power consumption, not cleaning performance by themselves. Is it a good choice for pet hair?
The brushroll design is relevant to homes with shedding pets, and Shark says it is designed to separate hair and reduce tangling. But neither that claim nor the accessible CHOICE listing establishes independent pet-hair pickup or hair-wrap performance for this model. No hands-on test results are available here, and CHOICE’s public page withholds its detailed assessment. The evidence therefore supports saying that the ZU62 is marketed for pet owners, not that it has been proven especially effective on pet hair.

Before choosing it for a home with pets, look for comparable independent results on pet-hair pickup, hair wrap, carpet and hard-floor cleaning, edge and crevice pickup, filtration test basis, noise, maneuverability, usable dust capacity, and replacement-part access. The information available here does not support calling it the best option or ranking it against a specific rival.
Weight, reach and everyday handling
At 7.3 kg on Shark’s regional specification, this is a substantial upright to carry between floors. CHOICE lists a lower 6.98 kg figure, but its public listing does not explain the measurement method. Shark’s stated 7.6 m cord and 3.6 m hose are separate measurements; CHOICE’s 8.1 m reach is a power-point reach figure, not another cord-length specification. Consider stairs, storage and the distance between outlets as well as floor type when judging whether this format suits your home.

How to clean and replace the filters
Shark’s APAC FAQ recommends the following schedule for its regional model. Check the current manual for your country before applying it to another market.

What to do if it switches off or lifts an area rug
If the vacuum switches off
- Unplug the vacuum.
- Empty the dust cup and clean the filters.
- Check for blockages.
- Let the vacuum cool for at least 60 minutes before restarting.
These are the basic steps in Shark’s regional FAQ. If the problem remains, consult the local manual or Shark support rather than repeatedly restarting the machine.
If suction lifts an area rug
Shark’s FAQ advises selecting the hard-floor setting and minimum suction for an area rug that is being pulled up. The vacuum has adjustable suction, but the appropriate setting may depend on the rug and local version.

If hair remains on the brushroll
The owner guide notes that the self-cleaning brushroll may need continued cleaning time to move remaining hair into the dust cup. “Self-cleaning” should not be read as a promise that the brushroll never needs attention.
Warranty and buying checks
Shark’s regional product material lists a two-year warranty; its FAQ describes limited coverage for faults in materials or workmanship. Warranty terms vary by country, so read the terms that apply where you are buying. The exact accessory bundle can also vary by market or retailer: Shark lists a duster-crevice tool, dusting brush and upholstery tool, but verify the retailer’s package contents before purchase. CHOICE’s public listing shows a $450 price, but the accessible information does not establish when that price was collected, so it should not be treated as current.
