IKEA’s UPPÅTVIND is the cheaper option, but the available comparison does not establish that it cleans air as effectively as Shark’s BreatheClear with NeverChange6. T3 reported the Shark at £129.99, down from £199.99, during Amazon’s October 2026 sale; IKEA UK listed UPPÅTVIND at £29. Those are dated UK prices, not confirmed live offers, so check current listings before buying.
What the price gap buys
At the listed prices, UPPÅTVIND costs £100.99 less upfront than the Shark sale price. T3’s October 5, 2026 article described the Shark as having a reactive display, motion detection and light sensors, while presenting IKEA’s model as a simpler purifier. These are the review’s descriptions, not a controlled feature or performance test. T3’s comparison framed the Shark offer around Amazon’s October sale; it should not be read as a current Prime Day price.

IKEA’s UK catalogue also lists STARKVIND at £129. It has manual and automatic operation, with app control available when connected to a DIRIGERA hub. That makes it a useful IKEA alternative to consider if automatic operation or app control matters, but its catalogue price and availability can change. IKEA UK’s air-purifier catalogue includes other purifier options as well.

Noise figures need a cautious comparison
T3 reports maximum-speed noise of 55 dB for UPPÅTVIND and 65 dB for the Shark. The article does not establish sufficiently comparable measurement conditions, and the figures were not independently reproduced here. Treat them as review-reported figures, not proof that one model will be quieter in every room or at equivalent settings.

Compare running costs and room suitability before choosing
The £29 catalogue price is only the initial purchase price. IKEA UK separately lists a UPPÅTVIND particle-removal filter for £3, but the available information does not establish the replacement interval or a complete long-term ownership cost. Confirm that a replacement is compatible with the exact model and check IKEA’s current maintenance guidance before relying on a particular schedule.
Price and a short feature list are also not enough to determine whether either purifier suits a particular room. Before buying, compare the manufacturers’ current room-size guidance and cleaning-rate specifications for the exact models, along with replacement-filter availability and cost. The cited comparison does not provide a controlled independent performance test, so it cannot establish that the cheaper unit is suitable for every room or use case.
