SharePoint Brand Center gives administrators one place to manage organizational brand assets for Microsoft 365, including custom fonts, colors and themes, and brand images. Microsoft announced its initial rollout to Targeted Release customers in September 2024; that historical rollout note does not show whether Brand Center is enabled in your tenant today.
What SharePoint Brand Center does
Microsoft described Brand Center as “a central location for your organization to manage and create brand assets for Microsoft 365.” The app brings organization asset libraries and brand assets together so an organization can manage how branding is applied across Microsoft products and support product-specific branding scenarios. It is an administrative branding app, rather than a template or an editor for an individual SharePoint site’s theme.

In its September 2024 roadmap update, Microsoft identified custom fonts, colors and themes, and brand images as the starting capabilities. The update was published October 3, 2024, and said the features were beginning to roll out to Targeted Release customers as of September, possibly in early October. That describes the announcement’s rollout window, not current availability for a particular tenant. Read Microsoft’s September 2024 SharePoint Roadmap Pitstop.
What administrators need before setup
Microsoft Learn documents one Brand Center per organization. A Global Administrator sets it up, and the app resides in a designated SharePoint site in the tenant. Setup requires Public CDN.
#1 Best Overall
- Administrator: A Global Administrator must enable Brand Center.
- SharePoint site and assets: If the organization already has Organization Asset Libraries (OALs), setup can recognize the existing assets site and use it as the basis for Brand Center. If it does not, Microsoft prompts the administrator to create a site.
- Public CDN: The site used for setup must meet Microsoft’s Public CDN requirement.
- Access: The associated SharePoint site’s permissions govern who can use the app. Site owners have access; administrators can manage access by adjusting site permissions.
The exact setup flow depends on the tenant’s existing organization-assets configuration. Review the current Microsoft Learn Brand Center documentation and the tenant’s settings before making changes.
How to enable Brand Center
- Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center as a Global Administrator.
- Go to Settings > Org settings > Brand center.
- Follow the setup prompts. If an Organization Asset Library assets site already exists, confirm the recognized site; otherwise, follow the prompt to create a site. Ensure the required Public CDN configuration is in place.
- After activation, review the associated SharePoint site’s permissions and grant access to the intended users. Site owners of that site can use the app.
These are the documented settings and access model; the prompts you see can vary with the tenant’s existing organization-assets setup. Check the current Microsoft Learn instructions if the option or expected site is not shown.

Microsoft says the Brand Center app itself is created in the organization’s primary geo. If custom fonts need to work in another geography, that geography also needs an Organization Asset Library in a site using Public CDN. Microsoft notes that these conditions do not change existing multi-geo behavior for Organization Asset Image or Template Libraries.
Check availability in your tenant
The 2024 announcement establishes when Microsoft said the initial rollout began for Targeted Release customers; it does not establish present-day availability in any specific tenant. Check the Brand center setting in the Microsoft 365 admin center and consult Microsoft’s current setup documentation to confirm whether the feature is available and how it is configured for your organization.
