To share your live location for a chosen period in Find My on iOS 27, open Find My, select People, start sharing with the person you choose, then select Custom and adjust the fields shown. You can set a duration or an end time; Apple does not specify a universal minimum, maximum, or field increment.
Share your location with a custom end time

Open Find My and tap People.

Tap the Add button, then choose Share My Location.

Enter the person’s name or choose them from the suggestions.

Tap Done, then choose Custom.

Adjust the fields displayed on your iPhone to set a duration or end time.

Apple’s iOS 27 iPhone guide describes the Custom option as a way to set a duration or end time. The available controls may vary; use the fields shown on your device rather than assuming a particular time limit or increment.

Check the setting before you begin
If location sharing is unavailable, open Find My, tap Me, and turn on Share My Location. Check the Sharing From device listed there. If your iPhone is not the device sharing your location, choose Use This iPhone as My Location.
If sharing is enabled but the recipient cannot see your location, check that Location Services is enabled for Find My at Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services. Apple documents these checks in its Find My iPhone guide.

Choose between Custom and the preset durations
Apple’s current Live Location instructions list these sharing periods:

| For an hour | When you need to share briefly and the one-hour period suits your plans. |
| Until the end of the day | When sharing through the remainder of the day is sufficient. |
| Indefinitely | When you want sharing to continue until you turn it off. |
| Custom time period | When you want to adjust the duration or end time using the fields Find My presents. |
Choose based on how long the other person needs access and whether a preset works. Apple’s documentation does not establish that one duration is more accurate or safer than another.

Stop or pause sharing early
Stop sharing with one person

In Find My, tap People and select the person.

Choose Stop Sharing My Location, then confirm Stop Sharing Location.
Hide your location
To pause sharing with a friend, Apple’s guide describes using Hide Location for that person. To stop sharing with everyone, tap Me in Find My and turn off Share My Location. See Apple’s instructions for sharing and stopping location sharing.

Family sharing and Apple Watch
Location sharing with a Family Sharing group can be managed in Settings or Find My. Apple says family members can stop sharing at any time; sharing can also help family members locate missing devices. Details are in Apple’s Family Sharing location instructions.
If you share from an iPhone paired with a GPS + Cellular Apple Watch, Apple says the watch shares your location when the iPhone is out of range and the watch is on your wrist. This device behavior is separate from choosing a custom sharing period; it is not needed to set one.
