Dam Battlegrounds is the best starting point for Sentinel Firing Cores. Its Sentinel positions are comparatively close together, and it also has strong ARC Courier coverage—the other confirmed source of this rare item. Check the Research & Administration building, the destroyed dam span, and the elevated structures around the Breach. For a second farming route, run Dam during an Electromagnetic Storm and loot every Courier you find.
Sentinels are stationary sniper turrets, not ordinary machine-gun turrets or Surveyors. Look for the thick orange targeting laser and the yellow canister mounted on the turret’s swiveling arm. That identification matters: the other turret types do not provide Sentinel Firing Cores.
What Sentinel Firing Cores are used for
Sentinel Firing Core is a Rare item obtained from destroyed Sentinels and ARC Couriers. Each stack holds 3 cores, and each core has a weight of 1.0.

The exact in-game menu path and button labels for this upgrade are not consistently documented, so it is safer to use the Gunsmith screen’s displayed requirement rather than follow an invented sequence of menus.

Patch 1.17.0 reduced the item’s sell value from 3,000 to 2,000. It also changed its recycling result from 2 ARC Alloy + 3 Mechanical Components to 2 ARC Alloy + 2 Mechanical Components. Unless you have no use for the Gunsmith upgrade, selling or recycling a core is usually a poor reason to make a dedicated run.
How to recognize a Sentinel
A Sentinel is a stationary sniper turret. Before it fires, a thick orange targeting laser appears, with beams converging on the target. Its shot is powerful enough that standing in the open while watching the laser is a bad trade.
- Weak point: the yellow canister on the swiveling arm.
- Not a Sentinel: a standard machine-gun turret or a Surveyor.
- Loot warning: a kill does not guarantee a Firing Core. Some destroyed Sentinels produce no visible core.
Breaking line of sight helps, but do not assume that distance alone makes you safe. A Sentinel can fire at your last known position after you disappear behind cover.

Best map: Dam Battlegrounds
Dam Battlegrounds is the most efficient dedicated farming map reported by current guides. Its main Sentinel areas are close enough to check in one route, and the map has dense Courier coverage for extra chances at the item.
Dam Sentinel locations
- Research & Administration: check the outside corner near the blue exterior staircase. This is also described as the south corner of the Research & Administration building.
- Destroyed dam wall/Breach: inspect both sides of the destroyed span. Reported positions include the north side, south side, and elevated metal walkways overlooking the gap.
These are possible locations, not guaranteed spawns. The Research & Administration position is frequently reported, but it will not necessarily contain a Sentinel in every raid.

Practical Dam route
- Start at Research & Administration.
- Check the outside corner by the blue staircase.
- Move to the destroyed dam wall/Breach.
- Search both ends and both sides of the gap, including the raised metal walkways.
- On the way out, check ARC Couriers around Research & Administration, the dam wall, and the Power Generation Complex.
If the raid has an Electromagnetic Storm, prioritize Couriers during this loop. Current farming guidance associates that condition with increased Courier density. Night Raid is also reported as favorable for Sentinel activity on Dam, but it does not guarantee a spawn.

Buried City locations
Buried City is generally less efficient than Dam because Sentinel sightings are reported less frequently. If you are already looting this map, check the following areas:
- Town Hall bell tower.
- The underside of the overpass south of Town Hall. This area is also described as the collapsed highway south of the map center.
- Santa Maria Houses courtyard, Hospital, and Research buildings. These additional positions appear in current reports, but the descriptions are not consistent enough to treat them as fixed or guaranteed locations.
Night Raid is reported as favorable for Sentinel activity on Buried City, but it is still a chance modifier rather than a spawn guarantee. Courier availability on Buried City is also described inconsistently by current guides, so do not build a route around Couriers there unless your map and raid confirm them.
Spaceport / Acerra Spaceport locations
Spaceport Sentinels are reported around several industrial and elevated areas. A practical sweep is Rocket Assembly, Container Storage, and Control Tower A6, while checking elevated walls, catwalks, container lanes, and tower-facing structures.
- Rocket Assembly.

- Control Tower A6.
- East corner of South Trench Tower.
Look above ground level as you move between these areas. Reported Spaceport spawns include elevated catwalks, hangars, runway-facing structures, and central industrial buildings. One current guide reports up to six potential spawns, but it does not enumerate every position, so a fixed six-stop checklist should not be treated as complete.

The Blue Gate locations
The Blue Gate has several reported Sentinel areas:
- The concrete area at the northeast Checkpoint.
- The tower at Pilgrim’s Peak.
- The radio tower.
- The concrete beams spanning the Outer Gates.
These positions are widely described as far apart. That makes The Blue Gate inefficient when Firing Cores are your only objective. Pilgrim’s Peak is sometimes described as a “100% spawn,” but that claim is not supported consistently by current reports. Treat it as a possible location, not a guarantee.

Stella Montis
Current sources disagree. ArcMaps and Gamer Guides report that Stella Montis has no Sentinels and only standard turrets, while the current ARC Raiders Wiki lists a Sentinel in the middle of the Atrium ceiling.
The defensible conclusion is that Stella Montis has conflicting current reports, and no uncontested farming location is verified. If you are already in the Atrium, checking the ceiling may be worthwhile, but it should not replace a Dam farming route or be presented as a confirmed spawn.
Riven Tides
Riven Tides appears in the current map index, but the available references do not provide a verified Sentinel spawn location or a confirmed Firing Core route. There is not enough reliable information to recommend a specific Riven Tides circuit.
Farm ARC Couriers for an additional chance
Sentinels are not the only source. ARC Couriers can also provide Sentinel Firing Cores. They are large white cylindrical or chest-like ARC husks that emit black smoke. Breach and loot them; a core is a rare possible result.

The strongest Courier-focused setup is:
- Choose Dam Battlegrounds.
- Prefer an Electromagnetic Storm when available.
- Run the R&D, dam wall, and Power Generation Complex areas.
- Loot every Courier instead of leaving after checking only Sentinel mounts.
This approach gives you two independent sources of the item in one raid. Do not rely on the outdated claim that only Sentinels drop Firing Cores. Conversely, do not assume that every Courier or Sentinel will provide one.
Looting a destroyed Sentinel safely
Sentinel wreckage is not always left neatly at the turret’s original mounting point. It can fall, bounce, clip through geometry, or disappear from view. After a kill:
- Wait for the firing threat to end and move behind hard cover.
- Check the visible wreckage and the surrounding landing area.
- Look directly below the original mount, especially when the Sentinel was attached to a ceiling or elevated structure.
- Search the floor and nearby ledges before leaving.
- If there is no core, continue the route rather than assuming the item is hidden or guaranteed to exist.
For ceiling-mounted Sentinels, the floor beneath the original position deserves a deliberate check. A dropped item may not remain where the turret was attached.

Do Sentinels always drop a Firing Core?
No. A Sentinel kill does not establish a one-core-per-kill rule. Some kills produce no visible Firing Core, so search the wreckage and continue checking other locations.

Can ARC Couriers drop Sentinel Firing Cores?
Yes. ARC Couriers are a confirmed second source. They are white cylindrical or chest-like ARC husks that emit black smoke. Breach and loot them, especially on Dam during an Electromagnetic Storm.
Is there a guaranteed Sentinel spawn on Pilgrim’s Peak?
Do not treat it as guaranteed. Pilgrim’s Peak is a reported Blue Gate location, but the claim that it has a 100% spawn is not consistently supported by current sources.
Does Hurricane increase Firing Core drops?
