The Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 is a strong premium-earbud option if you value rich sound and a battery design intended to be serviceable. Its headline advantage needs a qualification: reviewers report that the earbuds and case have user-replaceable batteries, but current replacement-part availability and price are not established. Its sound and feature set impress reviewers, while noise cancellation, fit, endurance, and price leave room for alternatives.
What the MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 offers
The MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 (MTW5) is a premium true-wireless model. TechRadar lists 7 mm dynamic drivers, Bluetooth 6.0, IP54 dust and water resistance, and a weight of 7 g per earbud. It also lists up to 12 hours of playback per earbud and up to 40 hours total with the charging case; those are published maximums, not guarantees across different codecs, volume levels, or noise-cancellation settings. TechRadar’s specifications and assessment provide the listed details.
Sound is a central strength in the reviews. SoundGuys and TechRadar describe the listening experience favorably, while Expert Reviews highlights rich, natural sound. These are reviewers’ subjective assessments rather than a promise that every listener will prefer the tuning. SoundGuys also reports aptX Lossless support; whether that codec is useful depends on a compatible playback device and source, so the feature alone does not guarantee lossless playback in every setup. Can you replace the batteries?
Launch coverage says both the earbuds and charging case have user-replaceable batteries. SoundGuys describes a removable bottom plate on the case that is opened by undoing one screw, and says the batteries are proprietary and must be sourced from Sennheiser. That is materially different from using a standard coin cell: the review does not establish that ordinary off-the-shelf batteries are compatible. Replaceable does not necessarily mean readily available or inexpensive. A Reddit post reproduces a reply attributed to Sennheiser’s Consumer Experience Center saying replacement batteries were not yet available and no price could be provided. Because this is a user’s reproduction of correspondence rather than a current official parts listing, it does not establish today’s supply situation. Check with Sennheiser for your region before buying on the assumption that you can obtain a replacement. The post reproducing the support reply is the basis for that limited account.
The design makes battery serviceability a notable feature, but it does not by itself prove how long the earbuds will last or how many additional years a battery swap might provide. The available reviews do not establish long-term durability or a service-life extension.

How do sound, noise cancellation, and fit compare?
The reviews do not present the MTW5 as an unqualified leader in every category. RTINGS finds that Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 provide stronger overall active noise cancellation and longer continuous battery life. Expert Reviews also notes that rivals can offer stronger high-end ANC. Fit is personal. RTINGS reports good comfort and stability in its assessment, while TechRadar cautions that the fit may feel bulky for some people with smaller ears. If you have struggled with large earbuds before, that caveat matters more than a general comfort score. Touch controls and the control area are another consideration: Expert Reviews lists the touch-control area among its drawbacks. Battery life, connectivity, and the alternatives
The MTW5’s listed endurance is up to 12 hours from the earbuds and up to 40 hours total with the case. RTINGS reports longer continuous playback for AirPods Pro 3, and longer listed endurance for the Technics AZ100, which it also assesses favorably for connectivity. Maximum-playback specifications and a review’s continuous-use result may come from different conditions, so they should not be treated as a like-for-like test. RTINGS’ comparison describes those reviewer findings.
Connectivity needs also vary by phone and other playback equipment. The MTW5’s listed Bluetooth 6.0 and reported aptX Lossless support may matter if your devices support the relevant features. If you are considering Technics AZ100 for its connectivity strengths, check which specific connection features work with your devices rather than assuming every benefit applies across platforms.

Price and who should buy them
SoundGuys reported a US launch price of $299.95 and a scheduled shipping date of September 3, 2026. Expert Reviews lists a UK review price of £250. These are dated launch and review figures, not current retail-price checks, so verify the price in your country before deciding whether the MTW5 offers good value. SoundGuys’ launch report gives the US figure, while Expert Reviews gives the UK review price.

- Consider other options if: top-tier ANC, the longest continuous playback, or a reliably small-ear fit is your main priority. Reviewers identify advantages for AirPods Pro 3 or Technics AZ100 in some of those areas, depending on the comparison.
- Wait or verify before buying if: replaceability is your deciding reason. The design is documented, but current battery supply and pricing are not established by an official parts listing in the available account.
SoundGuys says it tested a company-provided unit for two weeks; Expert Reviews says its reviewer used the earbuds as a main pair for three weeks. Their findings are useful review evidence, not proof that every listener will get the same fit, sound, or battery performance.
