The Sennheiser MOMENTUM Sport stands out as a workout earbud with built-in heart-rate and in-ear temperature sensors, secure-fit options, and water resistance—not as the obvious pick for the longest battery life or strongest noise cancellation. It is worth considering if you want biometric readings in your earbuds and its fit suits your ears. If you already track workouts with a watch, comfort and sound features may matter more.
What makes the MOMENTUM Sport different?
Its defining feature is integrated photoplethysmography (PPG) sensing for heart rate and in-ear temperature. The Sennheiser US product page lists a heart-rate measuring range of 30–220 bpm and a temperature range of 35.5–42.0 °C with stated accuracy of ±0.3 °C. Those are manufacturer specifications, not evidence of independent clinical validation or a medical-grade measurement.
For full sensor-data use, Sennheiser’s manual specifies the Smart Control app and Polar Flow. The product page also describes compatibility with sports devices and apps. Check that your preferred tracking setup supports the integration before buying; earbuds with sensors are less useful if the readings do not fit your existing routine.

The launch announcement describes a 10 mm transducer, Bluetooth 5.2, and support for aptX Adaptive, AAC, and SBC. It also highlights a semi-open design and an acoustic relief channel intended to reduce the plugged-ear feeling, plus selectable Transparency, Anti-wind, and Adaptive Noise Cancelling modes. These are features and design intentions, not guarantees of how the earbuds will sound or feel to every listener.

Are the Sennheiser MOMENTUM Sport good for running?
They are designed for exercise, with interchangeable ear tips and fins to help stabilize the fit, and built-in sensors that can make workout tracking more convenient. In SoundGuys’ one-week review, the reviewer said the displayed heart rate stayed within a few beats of an Apple Watch in their use. That is one reviewer’s observation, not a general accuracy guarantee.
SoundGuys also notes that the included transparent ear tips are needed for the sensors to work correctly; third-party foam tips may impair readings. If you change tips for comfort or isolation, verify that tracking still works as expected.

Fit is the main personal variable
The package includes multiple tip and fin sizes, which gives you options for retention. But that does not guarantee comfort. SoundGuys’ reviewer found the earbud body relatively large and reported painful outer-ear pressure after about an hour. Try them for a realistic workout-length session if possible, especially if larger earbuds tend to bother your ears.
Can you work out with the Sennheiser MOMENTUM Sport?
Yes. The earbuds are rated IP55 and the charging case IP54, according to Sennheiser’s manual. These ratings make the earbuds suited to sweat and exposure such as rain, but water resistance is not the same as waterproofing for swimming. SoundGuys advises against submerging them.

The semi-open design and selectable Transparency mode offer ways to hear more of your surroundings; Anti-wind mode is intended to address wind in transparency use. Use situational awareness appropriate to your activity: no listening mode replaces paying attention to traffic, other people, or changing conditions.
How long does the Sennheiser MOMENTUM Sport battery last?

Both figures point to a practical limitation: continuous playback is not especially long if you want to use the earbuds through a long day without returning them to the case. Your runtime can vary with settings and use, so plan around the manual’s stated conditions rather than assuming every session will match a review test.

How good are noise cancellation and transparency?
The earbuds offer Adaptive Noise Cancelling, Transparency, and Anti-wind modes. In its review, SoundGuys reported that ANC reduced the loudness of most noise by about 75%, while judging it short of the strongest ANC earbuds. The 75% figure is that publisher’s test result, not a universal Sennheiser specification.

- You plan to use the Smart Control and Polar Flow setup for sensor data.
- You value sport-oriented fit options, an IP55-rated earbud design, and selectable transparency modes.
Look elsewhere if
- You need long continuous battery life or make top-tier ANC your main priority.
- You are sensitive to larger earbuds or cannot try the fit before buying.
- You want swimming earbuds or independently clinically validated temperature readings.
Current price and availability are not established here, so compare live listings before making the value decision. The central question is whether the integrated workout sensors and sport-focused design justify choosing these over alternatives that may suit your ears, battery needs, or noise-cancellation priorities better.
