What contract does Stanley have?
Ottawa announced on March 30, 2026, that Stanley had agreed to a three-year entry-level contract beginning in the 2026–27 season. The team said he would join the Belleville Senators on an Amateur Tryout Agreement. That signing announcement provides context, but it does not say Belleville was the destination of the October 2 assignment. Ottawa Senators signing announcement
Stanley was selected by Ottawa in the fourth round, 108th overall, of the 2023 NHL Draft. In his third season with Cornell’s Big Red in 2025–26, he recorded three goals, 12 assists and 15 points, each a career personal best, according to the Senators. Cornell finished the regular season 22–11–1. Ottawa Senators signing announcement

Does the move settle Stanley’s opening-night status?
Ottawa’s September 27 training-camp roster reduction listed Stanley among the defencemen on a 29-player camp roster. A September 28 club report said his opening-night roster position was unconfirmed and noted he had six games of professional experience at that point. Those earlier reports do not establish the terms or destination of the October 2 transaction. September 27 roster announcement September 28 club report
