CHOICE reported a 67% overall result for the Sealy Posturepedic Crown Jewels Reims Flex in its latest mattress review, and said shoppers could probably find a better mattress for less. That makes it difficult to call this a clear value buy on the public evidence alone. The detailed test scores are member-only, so the public result does not reveal what drove the rating or prove a specific comfort or durability problem.
What is the Reims Flex mattress?
CHOICE lists the Reims Flex as an instore-retail spring mattress. The tested configuration is a double, with a claimed firm feel and a core type described as “Light spring.” “Flex” is part of the model name; the public listing does not explain what it means, so it should not be taken as evidence of adjustability or a particular edge-support design. CHOICE’s model listing does not establish that every size shares the double’s specifications.

In “Best and worst deals of the 2026 EOFY sales,” last updated 9 June 2026, CHOICE said the Reims Flex received an overall score of 67% in its latest mattress review. The article described it as near the bottom of that review and cautioned that better mattresses may be available for less.

That is an aggregate result, not a diagnosis. CHOICE’s public model page marks the expert rating and detailed results as member-only. The hidden scorecard includes support when new and over time, subgroup support for larger and petite sleepers, stability, sagging resistance, breathability, wear resistance, and warmth or coolness. Without the underlying results, the 67% does not establish which, if any, of those traits was a particular weakness.
Is it good value at half price?
CHOICE’s June 2026 EOFY article reported a half-price promotion for the Reims Flex at Snooze. That was a dated Australian sale report, not a current offer or confirmation of today’s stock.

The CHOICE model listing shows AUD $8,599 and AUD $4,200 as the price paid on sale or after bargaining. The listing does not say when or where those transactions occurred, so neither figure should be treated as a live quote. Compare a retailer’s current delivered price for the exact size and firmness against equivalent mattresses; the reported promotion does not overturn CHOICE’s value warning.

How firm is it, and who should consider it?
CHOICE records the tested double as firm-claimed. That label is not a personal comfort prediction: it does not establish how the mattress will feel to a particular sleeper or whether it will provide suitable support. If possible, lie on the same size and firmness configuration before buying. The public evidence does not support a more specific recommendation by sleeping position, body type, or comfort preference.

- Confirm the exact configuration. Check the size and claimed firmness on the mattress you are being offered; the published specifications above are for the listed double.
- Get a current delivered quote. Ask the retailer for the price including delivery and compare the same size and firmness in other mattresses. CHOICE’s listed prices are not live pricing.
- Get exchange terms in writing. CHOICE lists trial period and free exchange as N/A on its model page. That does not settle every retailer’s policy. Ask about comfort exchanges, fees, exclusions, and delivery or collection charges before paying.
- Verify the warranty and base requirements. The accessible sources do not establish the Australian warranty term, sagging threshold, claim process, or required support base. Obtain the current written terms from the seller or manufacturer.
- Compare evidence, not positioning. If you have CHOICE access, compare the detailed scores with alternatives. Otherwise, treat the public 67% as an overall result only, not proof of a specific shortcoming.
How to compare it with another mattress
For a useful comparison, keep size and firmness as similar as possible and assess the same practical factors for each model:
- Independent support and comfort results for new and long-term use.
- Stability and partner disturbance.
- Sagging and wear performance, alongside warranty requirements.
- Temperature and breathability.
- Total delivered price.
- Trial, exchange, and old-mattress removal terms.
