Say, “Alexa, play .” To reduce confusion, say, “Alexa, play my playlist on Amazon Music.” If Alexa plays from another provider, set Amazon Music as the default music service in the Alexa app.
Play a playlist with a voice command
Ask the Alexa-enabled device registered to your Amazon account: “Alexa, play .” Amazon lists “Play ” as a supported music command. If Alexa selects the wrong content or provider, use the more specific request: “Alexa, play my playlist on Amazon Music.”
Adding “playlist” helps distinguish a playlist from other content with a similar name. Amazon’s developer guidance documents this phrasing for music skills generally, so it is a useful clarification rather than a guarantee that every request will resolve identically. Amazon’s Alexa music commands

- Say goodbye to drop-offs and buffering - With eero Built-in, Echo Dot doubles as a mesh wifi extender, adding up to 1,000 sq. ft. of wifi coverage to your existing eero network.
Set Amazon Music as the default service
- In the Alexa app, open More > Settings > Preferences > Music & Podcasts.
- Under Your Default Services, choose Amazon Music as the default music service.
If you do not name a service in your request, the default provider can determine where Alexa looks for the playlist. Amazon allows different default music and podcast services for Alexa Profiles. To set a separate default for a profile, that profile needs an Alexa voice ID; direct profile linking is not supported by every provider. Manage Music and Podcast Settings for Your Alexa Profile
Check whether your account can play the playlist
Amazon says an Alexa device registered to an Amazon account can access that account’s Amazon Music Library. Available catalog and playlist features depend on the account’s eligibility, plan, and country: eligible Prime members have Prime Music access, while Unlimited subscribers can access customizable playlists. Check the options currently shown for your account and country in the Alexa app; a voice command cannot grant access to music that the account or plan does not include. Fix a playlist that will not play or keeps buffering
- Check the account and provider. Confirm that the Alexa device is registered to the intended Amazon account, Amazon Music is linked, and the correct default is selected for the active Alexa Profile.
- Clarify the request. Say the playlist name, the word “playlist,” and “on Amazon Music.” This can help when the name also matches other content.
- Improve the Wi-Fi connection. Reduce network congestion, move the Alexa device away from walls and sources of interference, and place it above floor level. Where supported by your router and device, try the router’s 5 GHz channel.
- Restart the connection. Restart the Alexa device and network hardware, then try the request again.

What to expect across devices and regions
Alexa music commands and service availability can vary by country and device. Some services may not be available on third-party Alexa-enabled devices, and a service may require account linking or acceptance of additional terms. Check the service and device support that applies to your setup rather than assuming every playlist or provider works identically.
