SanDisk’s Ultra 1.5TB microSD UHS-I card is a real high-capacity card for compatible Android devices, Chromebooks and Windows laptops. Western Digital announced it on October 18, 2023, with a US launch MSRP of $229.99 and a 10-year limited warranty. Its advertised read speed of up to 150MB/s applies when the card is used with SanDisk’s MobileMate USB 3.0 microSD reader—not as an unconditional card-only result.
What SanDisk launched
The product is the SanDisk Ultra 1.5TB microSD UHS-I card, model SDSQUAC-1T50-GN6MA. These are manufacturer specifications and claims; the supplied information does not include independent benchmark results. Actual throughput can vary with the host device, reader, file size, filesystem and other conditions.
Is it compatible with Android, Chromebook or Windows?
Android phones and tablets
Compatibility requires a physical microSD slot that supports the card’s capacity and UHS-I interface. Many current phones omit microSD expansion, so check the exact device specifications rather than assuming Android support.

- Compatible with Nintendo-Switch (NOT Nintendo-Switch 2)
- Expand your storage in a flash: ideal for Android smartphones and tablets, Chromebooks, and Windows laptops.
- Increase your TV show, movie, and Full HD video recording collections dramatically with up to a massive 1.5TB. (Full HD (1920x1080) video support may vary based upon host device, file attributes, and other factors. See SanDisk official website for more info. 1GB=1,000,000,000 bytes. 1TB=1,000,000,000,000 bytes. Actual user storage less.)
- Transfer files fast with up to 150MB/s read speeds and SanDisk MobileMate USB 3.0 microSD card reader. (Engineered with proprietary technology to reach speeds beyond UHS-I 104MB/s, require compatible devices capable of reaching such speed. Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending on host device, interface, usage conditions, and other factors. 1MB=1,000,000 bytes. Reader sold separately.)
- Load apps faster with A1-rated performance. (A1 performance is 1500 read IOPS, 500 write IOPS. Based on internal testing. Results may vary based on host device, app type, and other factors.)
Chromebooks
A Chromebook with a compatible microSD slot is an official target use. The Chromebook’s hardware and operating-system limits still determine whether the full capacity is recognized and how it can be formatted.
Windows laptops
Windows laptops can use the card through a built-in microSD slot or a separate reader. Confirm that the slot or reader supports microSDXC capacities and choose a filesystem suitable for the files and devices you need to share.

How fast is the 1.5TB SanDisk microSD?
SanDisk and Western Digital specify up to 150MB/s read when the card is paired with the SanDisk MobileMate USB 3.0 microSD card reader. That qualification matters: the figure describes a card-and-reader combination, not a guaranteed speed from every phone, Chromebook, laptop slot or generic reader. The announcement does not state a write-speed figure.

SD adapter
The supplied specifications do not establish whether an SD-size adapter is included in every package. Check the exact regional listing and package contents before buying if your computer has a full-size SD slot.

USB reader for the 150MB/s claim
For the advertised up-to-150MB/s read figure, use the SanDisk MobileMate USB 3.0 microSD card reader named by the manufacturer. A host USB port, operating system and file-transfer workload can still limit the result.

At launch, Western Digital sold the card through its store and authorized e-tailers. Brick-and-mortar retailers used the Ultra PLUS name for a related version with advertised read speeds up to 160MB/s. Do not treat those labels or speeds as interchangeable without checking the exact model number.

Because the announcement dates from 2023, the $229.99 price is historical rather than a current quote. Before ordering, verify the current price, stock, seller, region, warranty terms and model number. Also confirm that your device supports a 1.5TB microSD card; a slot that accepts microSD does not automatically support every capacity.

Who should consider it?
- Good fit: owners of a verified compatible device who need unusually large removable storage for media, documents or offline files.
- Check carefully: users planning to run apps, because A1 is the stated application rating and device software determines whether apps can be moved to or installed on removable storage.
- Look elsewhere: buyers needing high-endurance recording, a stated write-speed target or independently measured performance; those requirements are not established by the launch specifications.
Buying checklist
- Confirm the exact host device has a supported UHS-I microSD slot and supports the required capacity.
- Match the listing to model SDSQUAC-1T50-GN6MA, or verify why a different model is being offered.
- Check whether the package includes an SD adapter if you need one.
- Choose the SanDisk MobileMate USB 3.0 reader if you specifically want to evaluate the advertised 150MB/s read condition.
- Recheck current price, stock, seller, regional warranty and return terms before purchase.
