A Samsung device identified as XE940XSA has appeared in a Geekbench listing running Android 17. Its Snapdragon X Elite hardware looks laptop-class, but the listing does not establish that it is a retail Googlebook or even that Samsung will use Googlebook branding.
What appeared on Geekbench
SamMobile reported the XE940XSA entry on October 2, 2026. The listing identifies Samsung hardware running Android 17 and gives it specifications consistent with a notebook rather than a phone or tablet.
| Geekbench field | Reported value |
|---|---|
| Samsung model | XE940XSA |
| Operating-system label | Android 17 |
| Processor | Snapdragon X Elite (“Hamoa”) |
| CPU | 12 cores |
| Graphics | Adreno X1-85 |
| Memory | 16GB RAM |
| Geekbench result | 2,513 single-core; 15,214 multi-core |
These are values from one Geekbench report, not independent performance testing. SamMobile interprets the model number and component combination as a laptop, but Samsung has not announced a product or launch schedule for XE940XSA. SamMobile’s report is the source for the listing and its scores.

Why Android 17 does not prove it is a Googlebook
Google says Googlebook is a new laptop category combining Android technology, ChromeOS capabilities, Gemini features and Android-phone integration. Its announcement describes it as “a new category of laptops built with Gemini’s helpfulness at its core.” Google’s announcement also explains that Googlebook software is built on the Android 17 codebase.

That architecture creates an important ambiguity: an early Googlebook engineering build could identify itself only as “Android 17” in benchmark software. The operating-system line therefore makes Googlebook plausible, but it is not a branding confirmation. A benchmark entry can expose a development configuration before the final product name, user interface or software image is settled.
The alternative explanation: an Android Galaxy Book
Samsung’s own software may be involved
Chrome Unboxed links the same hardware possibility to earlier reports of Samsung Android Galaxy Books using One UI 9 and DeX. Under that explanation, XE940XSA would be a Samsung-designed Android laptop with Samsung’s desktop software rather than a Googlebook using Google’s interface and services.

What would settle the distinction
Chrome Unboxed says the decisive evidence would be a retail model number that matches the benchmark entry, an FCC filing, or an official announcement. None of those identifiers has yet tied XE940XSA to a finished Googlebook product.

What a confirmed Googlebook launch looks like
Dell provides a useful reference point because it has publicly identified one of its products. The Dell XPS Googlebook is a 13-inch Snapdragon X Elite laptop starting at $999. Dell says it offers up to 16 hours of Netflix streaming and synchronization with Android phones. Those are product-level claims attached to a named model, rather than inferences from a benchmark record.

Samsung’s existing Chromebook is not the leaked laptop
Samsung already sells documentation for the Galaxy Chromebook 2 360, an earlier Chromebook model. Its specification sheet can provide historical Samsung Chromebook context, but it does not identify XE940XSA and is not evidence that Samsung has joined the Googlebook program. Samsung’s specification sheet covers that existing model.

What to watch for next
The next reliable update will need to connect the Geekbench identifier to a public product. The most useful signals are:
- A Samsung announcement naming XE940XSA or a retail model number that matches it.
- An FCC filing or regional certification with the same identifier.
- Product software screenshots showing Googlebook branding, One UI 9 or DeX.
- Published specifications for the display, storage, battery, ports and wireless connectivity.
- A price and release date for a specific market.
- A stated Android and security-update policy.
If Samsung confirms the machine, the meaningful comparison with announced Googlebooks will be its software layer, processor and NPU behavior, phone-continuity features, display, battery life, memory and storage, ports, repairability, price, update commitment and regional availability. The benchmark alone cannot answer those questions.
Should you treat XE940XSA as Samsung’s first Googlebook?
Treat it as a genuine Samsung benchmark sighting and a plausible Android laptop prototype, not as a confirmed Googlebook purchase. The Snapdragon X Elite, 12-core configuration and 16GB listing show that the device is technically substantial, but the missing retail identity and Samsung statement leave its branding and software unresolved. Buyers should wait for an official model, specifications and availability before comparing it with the Googlebooks launching from Google’s named partners.
