Samsung’s Search with Finder is designed to help you retrieve information across supported sources when you cannot remember where you saved it. It may make a cluttered phone feel easier to navigate, but it does not organize apps, sort files into folders, or clean up storage.
What Search with Finder does—and what it does not
Samsung describes Search with Finder as a way to find information without opening apps one by one. For example, you can look for details about a flight, a reservation, or a saved note. The practical advantage is that you can search for something you remember rather than first remembering which app contains it.
That is retrieval, not organization. The available information does not establish that Finder rearranges the app drawer, moves documents into folders, or removes unwanted files. Nor does Samsung claim that it searches every app or every item on the phone.
The distinction matters if your problem is “Where did I save that?” Finder may help locate supported information. If the problem is an overfull home screen or a Downloads folder full of old files, you still need to organize those yourself.

Which apps and information can it search?
Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra product page lists these apps as currently supported for advanced search: Samsung Indonesia’s Galaxy S26 Ultra page.

- Reminders
- Notes
- Call Recording
- Voice Recording
- My Files
- Gallery
- Settings
Samsung also says recalled information may come from supported app notifications, Messages, Gmail, and Samsung Wallet. Reservation details are limited to reservation confirmation messages. These sources and the advanced-search app list are not a promise of universal coverage: the feature works with supported content, and availability can vary by country, region, and language.

What needs to be enabled for results to appear?
Search results depend in part on the data source and your settings. Samsung identifies these conditions:
- Notifications: Notifications must be on for Finder to use notification-derived information.
- Gmail: Gmail-derived information requires your consent to Personal Data Intelligent’s Gmail read permission.
- Language: For advanced search, the language of the data must match the phone’s current system language.
- Availability: Feature functions can vary by country, region, and language.
If you are searching for something you know should be on the phone but get no result, check whether it came from a supported source and whether the relevant permission, notification setting, or language condition applies. A missing result does not mean Finder has searched every app and ruled the information out.

Is Search with Finder on every Galaxy phone?
Samsung identifies Search with Finder in materials for the Galaxy S26 series, including the S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. The available product information does not establish that the feature is available on every Galaxy phone. If device eligibility matters, check the feature information for your specific model and market rather than assuming that any Galaxy device has the same capabilities.
Samsung introduced the S26 family on February 25, 2026, in its Galaxy S26 launch announcement. Google’s Android launch post also provides platform context for the new AI features on that family.

Finder versus searching apps one at a time
The difference is mainly where you start: with a likely app, or with the information you are trying to find. Finder can reduce the need to guess which supported source to open, but the available sources do not publish measured comparisons of speed, accuracy, or how often it finds what someone is looking for.

This makes Finder most relevant when you remember a detail but not its location. It is less likely to solve a problem involving content the feature does not support or information you have not saved.

What the feature can—and cannot—prove
Samsung describes the feature’s intended scope and lists supported sources, but that does not establish a guaranteed result for every query or user. The sources do not provide a published accuracy rate, time saved, adoption figure, or satisfaction score. Treat Finder as another way to search supported information, not as a guarantee that a phone will become tidy or that every missing item can be found.
Samsung Electronics CEO, President, and Head of Device eXperience Division TM Roh said in the S26 launch announcement, “We believe AI should be something people can depend on every day, designed to work consistently for everyone and without the need for expertise.” That is Samsung’s stated design ambition, not independent evidence that Search with Finder behaves consistently in every market or situation.
