Samsung’s 2025 teaser pointed toward a foldable with larger screens and better cameras; it did not name the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. Samsung unveiled that phone on July 22, 2026. Its confirmed headline specs include an 8-inch main display and a 200 MP wide camera, alongside a 6.5-inch cover display and additional ultra-wide and telephoto cameras.
What Samsung teased—and what it later announced
In a June 3, 2025 newsroom post, Samsung wrote: “For years, Samsung has listened to users asking for bigger screens, better cameras and new ways to connect and create.” The teaser promoted an Ultra foldable experience, but the quoted passage did not identify a future Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra by name. Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra on July 22, 2026, calling it the first Ultra model in its foldable portfolio. The announcement connects the phone to the earlier direction, but it does not establish that the 2025 teaser was explicitly naming this model. Samsung’s announcement
What the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra’s displays and cameras offer
Samsung UK lists an 8-inch main display and a 6.5-inch cover display. The larger inner screen gives the folded-open phone a tablet-like workspace, while the cover screen is intended for use without opening it. The UK page lists a triple rear-camera setup: a 200 MP wide camera, a 50 MP ultra-wide camera and a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Samsung also describes 8K video recording. Megapixel counts and recording resolution describe capability on paper; they do not establish image quality in everyday shooting.
Samsung US says the Ultra’s ultra-wide camera offers up to 34% improved brightness compared with the Fold7. That is Samsung’s own comparison, not an independently verified camera test. Samsung US product information
How it compares with the standard Galaxy Z Fold8
Samsung UK’s listed specifications show the Ultra as larger and heavier, with a more versatile rear-camera arrangement and a higher stated battery capacity. These are manufacturer-published specifications for the UK market, not independent test results.

The Ultra’s larger displays and telephoto camera are the clearest specification-based reasons to choose it over the standard Fold8. The standard model is lighter and has smaller screens. The capacity figures alone cannot determine which phone lasts longer in ordinary use.
Other confirmed specifications
Samsung lists Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy as the processor, with storage choices of 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB. On Samsung UK’s page, the 1 TB version is paired with 16 GB of memory; 256 GB and 512 GB versions are paired with 12 GB. The same page lists a 5,000 mAh battery and up to 27 hours of video playback. Samsung UK lists the phone as 4.1 mm thick when unfolded and 215 g in weight. Samsung’s page also says the Fold8 Ultra does not support S Pen, so buyers should not assume an S Pen will work with it.

The announced hardware makes the Fold8 Ultra a large-screen foldable with higher-resolution listed rear cameras than the standard Fold8’s wide camera and an added telephoto lens. But specifications cannot settle questions that matter in daily use: camera results across lighting conditions, hinge and screen durability, or battery life with a particular mix of apps, network use and display settings.
