Samsung’s latest wearable push is led by two watches with different jobs: the Galaxy Watch9 for everyday health management and the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 for demanding sports and outdoor use. The clearest available comparison with Apple is limited to price: TechRadar’s 2026 review reported that the Watch9 slightly undercuts the Apple Watch Series 11 in the US, but that does not establish an overall Samsung win.
What Samsung announced
At its July 22, 2026 Galaxy Unpacked event in London, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2 alongside intelligent eyewear, according to Samsung Mobile Press. The announcement reflects a two-watch strategy: a mainstream model centered on daily health management and a more rugged option aimed at intensive training and outdoor activities.
How the Galaxy Watch9 and Ultra2 differ
| Product | Samsung’s intended use | Features highlighted in the launch material | Price and sizing information in the reviewed material |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Watch9 | Everyday health management | Sleep, cardiovascular health, exercise, and recovery | TechRadar’s 2026 review lists US Bluetooth prices of $379.99 for 40mm and $409.99 for 44mm. The same review lists US cellular prices of $429.99 and $459.99, respectively. |
| Galaxy Watch Ultra2 | High-intensity sports and outdoor use | Precise GPS, a brighter display, a larger battery, and Trail Run information on elevation and ascent or descent | Size and price are not stated in the cited launch and review material. |
These are positioning and feature distinctions, not evidence that the watches deliver equivalent health measurements, GPS accuracy, or battery performance. The sources reviewed do not provide independent comparative test results for those areas.
How the Watch9 compares with Apple Watch Series 11
TechRadar’s 2026 review says the Galaxy Watch9 slightly undercuts Apple Watch Series 11, while noting that Apple’s sizes are slightly larger. Its listed Watch9 prices are review-time US prices, not a guarantee of current pricing in every retailer or market. Check local listings for the model, connectivity option, and price available where you live.

Samsung’s wider wearable strategy
Health management as an everyday use case
Samsung presents the Watch9 as a tool for managing health across sleep, cardiovascular health, exercise, and recovery. At the July 2026 Unpacked event, Samsung Digital Health representative Sharanya Desai, Ph.D., said: “For too long, we’ve approached health reactively,” adding that the company was “changing that narrative.” That is Samsung’s description of its approach, not independent evidence of health outcomes.

Intelligent eyewear and Galaxy Buds
Samsung describes its intelligent eyewear as a companion to Galaxy phones and other Galaxy wearables. The company’s July 31, 2026 interview discusses hands-free recording, access to apps, processing connected to a phone, and visible recording indicators. Samsung said: “Our goal is not to replace the mobile phone but to create AI glasses that help people use their phones less, while getting more value from the mobile experiences they rely on.” The interview does not establish retail price or availability.

Samsung’s 2026 first-quarter interim report identifies the Galaxy Buds4 and Buds4 Pro as products released in March 2026. It describes work on fit, sound, call quality, adaptive noise control, and Galaxy connectivity. These earbuds extend the company’s wearable ecosystem, but they are separate from the Watch9-versus-Apple Watch price comparison.
