At the time TechRadar reported the deal on 5 October 2026, Amazon UK had the Samsung T9 1TB portable SSD (model MU-PG1T0B/EU) for £191.07, £47.92 below the £238.99 comparison price cited in its deal box. The offer was also described as the lowest price TechRadar had seen in 2026, but the same report noted a price of £86 in November 2025—so this was not an all-time low. What was the Amazon deal?
TechRadar’s 5 October 2026 deal report listed the 1TB black Samsung Portable SSD T9 at Amazon for £191.07, against a £238.99 reference price—a reported saving of £47.92. Its headline summary rounded those figures to £192, £240 and £48 off. The article compared Amazon’s price with £205 at Argos and £209 at Currys on that date; those are publisher-reported prices, not confirmation of current listings.
TechRadar called the offer the lowest price it had seen in 2026, not an all-time low. Its report also mentioned the drive at £86 in November 2025. Separately, Samsung’s UK launch announcement listed a 1TB launch MSRP of £117.49 on 3 October 2023. These figures refer to different dates and pricing comparisons, not a single current recommended price. TechRadar’s deal report provides the dated offer context.
Will your laptop reach 2,000MB/s?
Not necessarily. Samsung rates this 1TB model for sequential reads of up to 2,000MB/s and sequential writes of up to 1,950MB/s. These are maximums, not guaranteed everyday transfer speeds. Samsung says reaching them requires a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 host and cable, with UASP enabled; actual performance depends on the host configuration.

USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 is a 20Gbps interface. A laptop’s USB-C connector alone does not establish that it supports this mode: check the computer’s specifications for USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 support. The T9 is backward-compatible with USB 3.2, 3.1, 3.0 and 2.0, but connecting it to a slower interface does not make that interface fast enough for the advertised maximum. Samsung’s UK product specifications list the model-specific read and write ratings and the conditions for maximum performance.
Who is the T9 best suited to?
The case for this drive is strongest if you regularly transfer, edit or back up large files—such as photo, video or other creative projects—and your computer can take advantage of its interface. Its NVMe storage and high rated sequential speeds are aimed at demanding workflows, although the figures alone do not guarantee faster results in every application or setup.

If you mainly keep documents or make occasional backups, a less expensive portable SSD may be a better-value fit. Consider how often you move large files, the capacity you need and the interface your computer actually supports before paying extra for speed you may not use.
Size, protection and warranty
The drive measures 88 × 60 × 14mm and weighs 122g, according to Samsung. Samsung also specifies AES 256-bit hardware encryption and provides Samsung Magician software for drive health checks, firmware updates and management. The package includes USB-C-to-C and USB-C-to-A cables.

Samsung rates the T9 for drop resistance up to 3 metres, based on an internal free-fall test under controlled conditions. That is not a waterproof rating, and Samsung says physical damage is not covered by the five-year limited warranty. Treat the drop figure as a test-based protection claim, not a guarantee against damage in every accident. Samsung’s UK launch announcement describes its durability testing and product positioning.
