Samsung Smart Hub is the menu system on Samsung Smart TVs for accessing apps, games, and other TV functions. To use its network services, connect the TV to the internet and, on supported models and in regions with an account requirement, sign in to a Samsung Account and accept the Smart Hub terms. From there, open Apps to find and install available apps. Exact options vary by model, software version, and region.
What is Samsung Smart Hub?
Samsung describes Smart Hub as the menu system that brings together TV functions and options such as apps and games; its UK support page also includes internet browsing. Samsung says Smart Hub was first introduced in 2011. Samsung UK’s Smart Hub overview was updated September 12, 2026.
Set up internet and Samsung Account access
Smart Hub’s online services require an internet connection. Connect the TV by Wi-Fi or Ethernet, then follow the on-screen prompts to sign in and accept the Smart Hub terms. Samsung Gulf’s Smart Hub setup guide covers the general setup flow.

Its stated policy applies to the products and region covered by that guidance; check the support page for your country and your model. Without account setup, the Canadian guidance says users can still watch over-the-air content and use external sources such as HDMI devices, but Smart Hub apps and services are unavailable. If you skipped account setup
On the flow described by Samsung Canada, go to Smart Hub Home and choose “Set Up Now.” Sign in by scanning the displayed QR code with a mobile device or by using the TV remote. Complete any verification prompts, then accept the Smart Hub Terms and Conditions and Privacy Notice. Prompts and available sign-in methods can differ by model and software version.
Find and install an app
- Press Home on the remote and open Apps.
- Browse the available apps or use Search to find one by name.
- Select the app, then choose Install.
- When installation finishes, choose Open to launch it.
This sequence comes from Samsung India’s app installation and management guide. Samsung Canada also states that an account is required for Smart Hub access and installing or opening apps under its current guidance. Menu labels and steps may vary by location, model, and software.

Manage installed apps
Depending on the TV, app options may include adding an app to Home, moving it, locking it with a PIN, viewing details, reinstalling it, or deleting it. Open the app-management controls shown for your model and follow the on-screen choices; do not assume every model offers every action.
- Deleting: Samsung warns that uninstalling an app can remove its associated data. Preinstalled default apps cannot be uninstalled.
- Low internal storage: Samsung says some apps can be installed to a USB device. Apps installed on USB cannot be used on a PC or a different TV.

Troubleshoot an app that fails or is missing
Work through failures from least to most disruptive
- Cold boot the TV. A cold boot fully restarts the TV rather than leaving it in ordinary standby. Use the method for your TV model in Samsung’s app troubleshooting guide.
- Update the TV software. Check for an available software update in the TV’s settings and install it, following the on-screen prompts.
- Delete and reinstall the app. Use the app controls on your model, then find the app again in Apps and reinstall it if it remains available.
- Reset Smart Hub only if needed. This signs you out of your Samsung Account and apps, so make sure you have the sign-in details before proceeding.
Where to find Smart Hub reset
Samsung lists different menu paths by model year:
- 2018 and earlier: Settings > Support > Self Diagnosis.
- 2019 and later: Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis.
The TV may ask for its PIN. Samsung says the default is 0000 unless it has been changed. The menu path and prompts can vary, so use the troubleshooting page or your model’s instructions if the listed options do not appear.
If an app does not appear in the store
An app may be unavailable because it is not supported on that TV or because its requirements exceed the model’s memory or processing capability. Samsung Canada notes that hardware limitations can prevent an app from appearing in the store. Check the app store on the TV, install current TV software, and consult both the TV’s model support page and the app provider’s compatibility information. Why instructions differ between Samsung TVs
Smart Hub features, account requirements, app availability, and menu labels are not uniform across every product, region, and software release. Samsung’s support instructions are often written for a particular country or range of model years. If a step does not match your screen, use the support page for your country and search by the TV’s exact model number; the user manual and on-screen prompts are the best guide for that device.
