Samsung Galaxy phones do not appear to offer the Android feature that lets different people have separate, device-wide user profiles. That means adding another Google account to your own profile will not give a family member their own apps, settings, and home screen. The Samsung-specific finding comes from reporting published September 23, 2026, and should not be treated as a verified compatibility list for every Galaxy model or region.
What feature is missing from Samsung phones?
It is Android multi-user profiles: separate spaces on one device for different people. Google describes a user profile as a personal space for custom home screens, accounts, apps, and settings. Android’s platform documentation also describes distinct user data and workspaces, with a way to switch between users.
That is different from adding a second Google account inside your own profile. In that case, the phone still has one user’s apps, home screen, and settings; the account does not create an independent device-wide space for someone else.

Android includes the underlying capability, but it is not guaranteed to appear on every device. The Android Open Source Project says multi-user support is disabled by default and that manufacturers configure whether to enable it and expose its user interface. That explains why Android devices can differ; it does not establish why Samsung made its choice.

Samsung’s absence of multi-user accounts on Galaxy phones, alongside support on Galaxy tablets, is reported by Sanuj Bhatia in an Android Police article published September 23, 2026 and syndicated by Yahoo Tech. The report does not provide an official Samsung support matrix or a company explanation, so it cannot establish compatibility for every phone, software version, or region. The author describes trying to share a Galaxy S24 Ultra with his father and being unable to create another user; that is his experience with that device, not an independent model-by-model test.
Can you add another user to your Samsung Galaxy phone?
Check the phone’s Settings for an option such as “Add user” or “Add user or profile.” Google’s Android Help says that if neither option is available, the device cannot add users through that route. The Android Police report says Galaxy phones lack native multi-user accounts, but the evidence does not establish a model-specific exception list. If the option is missing, adding another Google account to your existing profile is not an equivalent workaround.

What are the alternatives, and what do they separate?
Guest profiles
Where Android offers them, guest profiles are intended for temporary use, while a full user profile is suited to someone who will use the device regularly. Google describes guest data as easier to remove. A guest is still a separate profile—not simply another account added to your own—and availability depends on the device.

Samsung Secure Folder and Dual Messenger
The Android Police article describes Secure Folder as a protected space for selected apps and files, and Dual Messenger as a way to create another instance of supported apps. These can address narrower needs, such as keeping certain content separate or using two accounts in a supported app. They are not device-wide user profiles, and the available evidence does not establish that they provide equivalent isolation.

A tablet with separate users
If several people need distinct spaces on a shared device, Google’s Pixel Tablet help page documents adding, switching, and deleting user profiles on that tablet. It is a tablet option, not a way to add profiles to a Samsung phone.

A full user profile is a separate device-wide workspace for another person, with its own app data and accounts. It is not the same as a work profile, which separates work and personal environments for one user, or a clone of one app, which duplicates only that app’s experience. AOSP notes that some system settings may be shared between users; notifications from another user are not shown until that profile is active.
