An early One UI 8 build for the Galaxy Z Flip6 reportedly adds a 12GB RAM Plus setting and shows a new animated wallpaper effect. The leak does not prove that One UI 8 makes every Galaxy phone faster or that all models will receive the larger setting: the memory option was observed on one device’s test firmware, and the animation evidence is visual rather than benchmark-based.
What the One UI 8 leak shows
Android Authority reported in 2025 that an early One UI 8 build for the Galaxy Z Flip6 offered RAM Plus choices of 2GB, 4GB, 6GB, 8GB, and a newly listed 12GB. Samsung had previously raised the reported maximum from 4GB to 8GB. These are observations from leaked firmware, not a Samsung announcement that the setting will ship on every supported phone. Android Authority’s report
RAM Plus uses storage as virtual memory; it does not add physical RAM. A 12GB selection therefore should not be read as turning a phone with 8GB of installed RAM into a device with 20GB of physical memory. The report specifically cautioned that support on devices with 8GB or less physical RAM was not confirmed.

Beta-build coverage described color-shifting dynamic wallpapers and a smooth gradient animation when powering on or unlocking a device. That supports a narrower claim: One UI 8 includes a visually fluid animated effect. It is not evidence from a controlled responsiveness test, and the available reporting provides no independent frame-time or animation-speed measurements. Android Authority’s One UI 8 beta coverage

As a result, “smoother animations” is best understood as a description of the observed effect, not proof that every transition is faster or that the update improves performance across Galaxy phones.
How broad is the leak’s device evidence?
The RAM Plus observation came from an early Galaxy Z Flip6 build. A separate hands-on report characterized the changes in that build as relatively small compared with One UI 7, while noting items such as an expanded Now Brief, broader log-video support, Quick Share changes, and minor icon updates. Those observations do not establish that every feature—or the 12GB setting—will appear on other models. Android Authority’s Galaxy Z Flip6 report

Other beta, leaked-firmware, and tipster reports have described a 90:10 split-screen option; expanded DeX support; app-based download filtering in My Files; Now Bar changes; Listen Brief; widgets up to 4×4 rather than 4×3 in Beta 1; Reminders and Modes and Routines updates; Samsung Notes changes; log video; Quick Share improvements; a revamped Weather app; video summarization in Samsung Internet; a Private Gallery album; Secure Folder changes; Auracast interface updates; and alarm-group improvements. These are reported features, not a guarantee of final availability on every eligible device. Android Authority’s One UI 8 beta feature report
Which Galaxy devices are confirmed for the rollout?
Samsung’s Global Newsroom later announced a One UI 8 rollout covering the Galaxy S25 and S24 families, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, older foldables, tablets, and many A-series models. That announcement establishes device-family eligibility for the rollout, not that each device receives the leaked RAM Plus choice. Delivery timing can also differ by market and carrier.
