The 2026 Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 G80SH pairs a 4K resolution with a maximum 240Hz refresh rate in two QD-OLED sizes: 27 inches and 32 inches. Its specifications make it an appealing option for high-end gaming and mixed laptop use, but the available evidence does not establish how it performs in independent tests. The two sizes also differ in pixel density and HDR certification, so check the exact variant before buying.
What the G80SH offers
Samsung describes the G80SH as a fourth-generation QD-OLED display using a five-layer “Penta Tandem” architecture. Both sizes have a 3840 × 2160 resolution and a maximum refresh rate of 240Hz. Samsung specifies a 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time; that is a manufacturer specification, not an independently measured result.
A 4K, 240Hz display is most useful when the computer and game can deliver a high frame rate at 4K. The monitor’s refresh-rate ceiling does not mean a PC will reach 240 frames per second in every game. Consider your graphics hardware and the games you play before paying extra for a high-refresh 4K panel.

27-inch or 32-inch: what changes?
The two versions share the headline resolution and refresh rate, but differ in pixel density and HDR class. Samsung lists the 27-inch model at 166 pixels per inch and the 32-inch model at 140 pixels per inch. At the same resolution, the smaller screen packs more pixels into each inch. That is a useful distinction when comparing desk space and viewing distance, but the figures alone do not establish which size will feel more comfortable or readable to you.

- EXPERIENCE A BRIGHTER WORLD: Content springs to life in 4K QD-OLED; Brilliant imagery shines with 250 nits (typ) of brightness and a wider spectrum of colors, shades & contrasts; The NQ8 AI Gen3 Processor also upscales lower resolutions to nearly 4K
- OUTMANEUVER OPPONENTS w/ SUPREME SPEED: Dodge, counter & engage faster with QD-OLED technology, offering a near-instant 0.03ms response time (GtG); Stay ahead with HDMI 2.1 & DisplayPort connections & a 240Hz refresh rate in UHD resolution¹
- DYNAMIC COOLING SYSTEM: For the 1st time ever, a Pulsating Heat Pipe was introduced into the monitor to prevent burn-in; The Dynamic Cooling System evaporates & condenses a coolant to diffuse heat 5x better than the older graphite sheet method⁵
- THERMAL MODULATION SYSTEM: Algorithms predict surface temperature and then control the brightness accordingly, to automatically reduce heat²

| Resolution and maximum refresh rate | 3840 × 2160; up to 240Hz (Samsung) | 3840 × 2160; up to 240Hz (Samsung) |
| Pixel density | 166 PPI (Samsung) | 140 PPI (Samsung) |

The brightness figures are not directly comparable measures of sustained full-screen output: the 32-inch model’s 1,000-nit figure applies to a small, 3% average picture level window. None of these figures is an independent measurement of the exact monitor’s performance.
Connections and laptop use
Samsung lists the 27-inch model with one DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 connection, two HDMI 2.1 inputs, one USB-C port with charging up to 98W, and two downstream USB-A ports. Samsung’s 2026 lineup announcement also lists DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 and USB-C charging up to 98W for the 32-inch model.

- SAMSUNG’S 32" ODYSSEY OLED G8 G80SH GAMING MONITOR: Delivers crystal-clear 4K visuals (3840 x 2160) with guaranteed performance and a 3 Year Warranty
- THE QD-OLED SCREEN AND PIXEL DENSITY OF 140 PPI: Brings game worlds to life with amazing clarity
- VESA DISPLAYHDR TRUE BLACK 500: Offers ultra-deep blacks and 100-nit peak brightness for stunning contrast, while the Pantone Validated screen ensures precise color reproduction
- 240Hz REFRESH RATE AND 0.03ms RESPONSE TIME (GtG): Enables fluid motion with less blur, while AMD FreeSync Premium reduces choppiness, screen lag, and image tearing
- DP 2.1: Delivers up to 80 Gbps of bandwidth and the USB-C port powers the setup with up to 98W to maintain focus, while the height-adjustable Ergonomic Stand pivots, tilts, and swivels for the perfect view
The USB-C port could support a convenient laptop setup, but it does not guarantee that every laptop can send video at the desired resolution and refresh rate while charging. Video output, charging, supported refresh rates, and cable requirements depend on the laptop and cable as well as the monitor. Check both devices’ specifications before relying on a one-cable desk connection.

Glare control, HDR, and OLED care
Samsung calls the screen coating “Glare Free” and says it is 54% less glossy than conventional anti-reflection film. That is a manufacturer claim, not an independent reflection test. The available evidence does not quantify how well this screen handles reflections in a particular room, so treat the label as a feature to investigate rather than a guarantee of a reflection-free image.
The 27-inch model is listed as DisplayHDR True Black 400; Samsung lists True Black 500 for the 32-inch version. These are distinct certifications, not interchangeable descriptions. Samsung’s UK family specifications also state a 1,000-nit peak for the 32-inch model under a 3% APL condition; that figure should not be read as typical or full-screen brightness.

Samsung advertises OLED Safeguard+ but the available sources do not independently establish the G80SH’s long-term image-retention or panel-wear outcomes. OLED use is not automatically unsuitable for office work, nor does a safeguard feature prove immunity to burn-in. If you will use the monitor for long sessions with static desktop elements, review the on-screen protection options and the warranty terms for the country where you buy it.
Samsung’s UK 27-inch product page says: “Burn-in at normal usage covered within warranty. (But, not covered for Commercial, abuse or mis-use)”. This wording applies to that UK product page; it is not a universal warranty promise. Check the warranty for your specific regional model and purchase location.

Tom’s Hardware reported June 2026 launch prices of $1,099.99 for the 27-inch version and $1,299.99 for the 32-inch version. Samsung’s US page displayed $1,299.99 for the 32-inch model when captured, while showing delivery and in-store pickup as unavailable. Quick Recap
Who should consider the G80SH?
- Consider it if you want a 4K OLED gaming monitor with a manufacturer-listed 240Hz maximum refresh rate and your computer can make good use of 4K at high frame rates.
- Compare the sizes carefully if desk space, viewing distance, and pixel density matter. The 27-inch model has the higher listed PPI; the 32-inch model has the larger image area and a higher listed HDR certification.
- Check compatibility first if you plan to connect a laptop over USB-C or expect a particular refresh rate through a specific graphics card, port, or cable.
- Wait for independent testing if your decision depends on measured brightness, color accuracy, text clarity, motion handling, input lag, or long-term OLED wear. The specifications and launch coverage cited here do not settle those questions.
