Samsung’s Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF is a 27-inch QD-OLED gaming monitor with QHD resolution and a maximum 500Hz refresh rate. Samsung announced it as the world’s first 500Hz OLED gaming monitor, with regional availability beginning in 2025. Its announced US price was $999.99, and its UK recommended retail price was £799; availability and pricing depend on location.
What makes the Odyssey OLED G6 notable?
The G60SF combines a 500Hz refresh rate with a 2,560 × 1,440-pixel QHD panel. Samsung lists a 0.03ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of input lag or real-world performance. Samsung’s May 11, 2025 announcement called it the world’s first 500Hz OLED gaming monitor: Samsung’s global announcement.
A 500Hz ceiling is most relevant to competitive games when a computer can produce very high frame rates. A monitor’s refresh rate does not make a game render at 500 frames per second; the graphics hardware and game must supply the frames. For broader use, QHD resolution, OLED characteristics, reflections, warranty, local price, and return terms are also worth weighing.
Core specifications and display features
| Feature | Samsung’s stated specification |
|---|---|
| Panel and shape | 27-inch flat QD-OLED |
| Resolution | QHD, 2,560 × 1,440 |
| Maximum refresh rate | 500Hz |
| Response time | 0.03ms GTG |
| HDR certification | VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 |
| Peak brightness | Up to 1,000 nits in Samsung’s HDR test at 3% average picture level (APL), with peak brightness set to High |
| Adaptive sync | NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro |
| Reflection treatment | Glare Free |
| Colour validation | Pantone Validated; Samsung says it covers more than 2,100 Pantone colours and 110+ SkinTone shades |
The 1,000-nit figure describes a small, 3% portion of the screen in Samsung’s specified HDR test, not sustained full-screen brightness. Samsung Canada describes the Glare Free film as 54% less glossy than conventional anti-reflection film. That percentage is Samsung’s comparison, rather than an independent reflection test. The same product page documents the named certifications and features: Samsung Canada’s G60SF product page.

- The Pantone Validated screen accurately reproduces 2100+ lifelike colors and 110+ skin tone shades
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadows for added depth and more realistic scenes
OLED Safeguard+ and burn-in considerations
Samsung says OLED Safeguard+ is designed to reduce heat and exposure to static images. Its listed measures include dynamic cooling, thermal modulation, detection of logos and taskbars, and a screen saver. These features are intended to reduce risk; they do not establish that burn-in cannot occur or guarantee a particular panel lifespan.
Samsung’s US announcement states that the US model includes a three-year warranty. Warranty coverage and terms may differ by country, so check the local listing before purchase. Samsung’s US availability and warranty announcement is dated August 12, 2025: Samsung US announcement.

Is 500Hz the right priority?
- For competitive play: Consider whether your PC and the games you play can sustain frame rates high enough to benefit from a 500Hz display. The refresh-rate specification alone does not show how many frames a particular setup will deliver.
- For mixed gaming and everyday use: Weigh QHD resolution and the 27-inch size alongside HDR behavior, reflections in your room, and OLED’s static-image precautions.
- Before buying: Confirm regional stock, the exact model, warranty terms, return policy, and the price you will actually pay. Samsung’s published specifications do not provide independent testing of input lag, image quality, burn-in longevity, or frame-rate performance.
