The Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SF) is a 27-inch QD-OLED gaming monitor with a 2560 × 1440 panel and a 500Hz maximum refresh rate. It suits competitive players who value motion speed and can push very high frame rates. It is a weaker choice if you need sharp text, a single-cable laptop connection, accurate color straight out of the box, or a lower price. The sections below explain each trade-off and who is making each claim.
Key specifications
Samsung’s launch announcement, dated August 12, 2025, and its U.S. product page list the following figures. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements.

At launch, Samsung’s David Phelps, Head of Display at Samsung Electronics America, described the monitor as part of the company’s push “pushing the boundaries of gaming monitor innovation.” That is promotional wording from the manufacturer, so treat it as a product claim rather than an evaluation.
What 500Hz does and does not mean
500Hz is the monitor’s maximum refresh rate. It is a capability ceiling, not a guarantee of output. Whether you see anything close to it depends on the rest of your system:
#1 Best Overall
- Samsung’s 27” Odyssey OLED G6 Gaming Monitor is engineered for perfection with a QD-OLED Display featuring QHD resolution made to deliver high brightness and a wide range of colors for gameplay
- OLED Safeguard technology supports performance by actively helping to prevent burn-in with a thermal modulation system
- Glare Free Technology keeps screen clear of reflection from external light sources
- The Pantone Validated screen accurately reproduces 2100+ lifelike colors and 110+ skin tone shades
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadows for added depth and more realistic scenes
- Your graphics card must render frames fast enough in the game you play. Most titles will not sustain 500 frames per second on typical hardware.
- The source must send a signal at the required refresh rate, and the cable and port you use must support it.
- Competitive gains from very high frame rates depend on the game, the settings you choose, and your own perception. Many players will see the benefit mainly at lower graphics settings.
If your system typically delivers 120 to 240 frames per second in your games, the 500Hz figure matters less than the monitor’s response behavior and adaptive sync support.
The pros
Very high refresh rate and fast pixel response
The 500Hz maximum and Samsung’s 0.03ms gray-to-gray rating are the headline reasons to buy this monitor. TechRadar reviewer Jeremy Laird describes exceptionally fast motion in his February 6, 2026 review. The 0.03ms figure is Samsung’s own rating; the review does not establish it as an independently measured result.
QD-OLED image quality
Samsung promotes vivid colors and deep blacks, and Laird describes punchy, vibrant imagery and per-pixel lighting that suits dark game scenes. OLED’s per-pixel lighting is the main reason to choose this panel over an LCD at a similar price point, since it can show true black next to bright highlights.

Samsung lists both NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. That covers most current GPUs, so you can keep frame pacing smooth without manually setting a refresh rate. Confirm the exact certification behavior with your graphics card’s own settings, since support depends on the driver and connection.

- STUNNING VISUALS and BRIGHTER HIGHLIGHTS: Samsung QD-OLED Monitor delivers superior brightness and dynamic contrast, with an expansive spectrum of colors and nearly limitless shades for consistently brilliant imagery
- OUTMANEUVER OPPONENTS w/ SUPREME SPEED: Dodge, counter and engage faster with QD-OLED technology, offering a near-instant 0.03ms response time (GtG); Stay ahead with HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort connections and a 360Hz refresh rate in QHD resolution¹
- IMMERSE IN SMOOTH ACTION WITHOUT DISRUPTION: Support of Variable refresh rate (VRR) with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro keeps the GPU and panel synced up to eliminate choppiness, screen lag, and image tears
- DYNAMIC COOLING SYSTEM: For the first time ever, a Pulsating Heat Pipe was introduced into the monitor to prevent burn-in; The Dynamic Cooling System evaporates and condenses a coolant to diffuse heat 5x better than the older graphite sheet method
- THERMAL MODULATION SYSTEM: Algorithms predict surface temperature and then control the brightness accordingly, to automatically reduce heat²
Glare Free matte coating
Samsung’s Glare Free treatment reduces reflections in bright rooms. Laird notes the matte coating reduces reflectivity but costs some perceived contrast compared with a glossy OLED panel. If your desk faces a window, this is a real benefit; if your room is dim and you want the deepest-looking blacks, the trade-off is more visible.
The cons and caveats
Premium price
Samsung positions the G60SF at the premium end of the gaming monitor market. Prices vary by market and date, so check the live listing before buying (see the price section below).
No USB-C input
Laird’s review states there is no USB-C input. That limits convenience if you want a single cable to connect a laptop, charge it, and carry video. Plan on a dedicated video cable and a separate laptop charger.
Text sharpness at 27 inches and 1440p
Laird attributes some loss of font sharpness to the triangular subpixel layout used on this QD-OLED panel. He also says 1440p pixel density is moderate for general desktop use at 27 inches. This is a reviewer assessment. Text in editors, spreadsheets, and documents will look softer than on a sharp 4K panel of the same size.

- STUNNING VISUALS AND BRIGHTER HIGHLIGHTS: Samsung QD-OLED delivers superior brightness and a wide color gamut to every scene, ensuring vivid detail and brilliant imagery.
- OUTMANEUVER OPPONENTS WITH SUPREME SPEED: Dodge, counter and engage faster than the rest. QD-OLED technology delivers near-instant reaction time with 0.03ms response time (GtG).¹
- IMMERSE IN SMOOTH ACTION WITHOUT DISRUPTION: G-Sync compatibility syncs the GPU and panel to reduce choppiness, screen lag and image tearing.² Along with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, it creates ultra-smooth scenes that let you game with a competitive edge.
- DYNAMIC COOLING SYSTEM: For the first time in the world, Pulsating Heat Pipe was applied in the monitor to prevent burn-in. Dynamic Cooling System helps cool 5 times better than the older graphite sheet method, reducing temperature at the core.²
- THERMAL MODULATION SYSTEM: Algorithms predict surface temperature and automatically control brightness accordingly to reduce heat.³
Purple tint in bright rooms
Laird reports that the purple tint associated with QD-OLED panels remains visible in bright ambient light on this generation of panel. The effect is most noticeable when lights are on or sunlight reaches the screen, and it is a reviewer observation rather than a universal test result.
Factory SDR calibration
Laird found the SDR modes overly warm and oversaturated out of the box. He also notes the monitor lacks the usual sRGB or DCI-P3 presets. If you need accurate color for photo or video work, plan on calibration. The review does not establish that every unit or later firmware behaves the same way.
Size and resolution trade-off
A 27-inch 1440p screen is less sharp and, for some people, less immersive than a larger or higher-resolution display. This is a buying trade-off rather than a fault. If you want a bigger, sharper workspace, a 4K or ultrawide monitor will serve that need better.

The gap between the two U.S. figures shows that pricing changed after the review. Check Samsung’s regional store or a retailer in your country before you buy, and compare the price against the alternatives you are considering.
Burn-in and warranty
Samsung’s U.S. product page says burn-in from normal use is covered within the warranty. Exclusions cover commercial use, abuse, and misuse. The launch announcement describes a three-year warranty. Warranty terms vary by country and retailer, so confirm the terms for the exact SKU and region you buy before relying on them.
Who should buy it and who should skip it
Buy the G60SF if:
- You play fast competitive titles and can regularly reach frame rates high enough to use a 500Hz display.
- Motion clarity and response speed matter more to you than text sharpness.
- Your graphics card supports G-SYNC or FreeSync Premium Pro and you want adaptive sync.
- You are comfortable with an OLED panel, including its burn-in care, and can accept its premium price.
Skip it if:
- You spend most of your day reading or writing text and want the sharpest possible font rendering.
- You want one cable for a laptop, charging, and video, because the monitor has no USB-C input.
- Your desk is in a bright room and you are sensitive to color shifts in ambient light.
- You need accurate color without calibration, for example for photo or video editing.
- Your system will not sustain high frame rates, which makes the 500Hz figure largely irrelevant.
Compare any alternative on refresh rate and realistic frame rate, resolution and pixel density, panel type and ambient-light behavior, screen size, connectivity, calibration behavior, warranty, and local price. The evidence available for this model does not support a detailed head-to-head ranking against a named competitor.
