The Samsung Odyssey G5 G50D (LS27DG500ENXZA) is the 27-inch, 1440p IPS gaming monitor behind the widely reported $150 price. Slickdeals listed it at $149.99 for Samsung EPP/EDU members on September 8, 2026—not as a confirmed price for every shopper or a guaranteed offer on October 2.
Its headline specification is a maximum 180Hz refresh rate with FreeSync and G-SYNC variable-refresh-rate support. Verify the model number and the live checkout price before buying, because Samsung sells several similarly named 27-inch monitors.
What the $150 Samsung monitor actually is
The deal points to the Odyssey G5 G50D, model LS27DG500ENXZA. The product is a 27-inch QHD (2560×1440) monitor using an IPS panel and rated for up to 180Hz. RTINGS lists FreeSync and G-SYNC support for adaptive sync.
Those are stated product specifications, not a claim that this monitor wins independent tests for motion clarity, contrast, brightness or color. The available evidence does not provide like-for-like measurements against Samsung’s other models.
#1 Best Overall
- Samsung’s 27” Odyssey G5 QHD Gaming Monitor delivers brilliant visuals for exhilarating gameplay that’s more immersive than ever before.
- QHD resolution (2560 x 1440) boasts incredibly detailed, pin-sharp images.
- With a wide 178° viewing angle, the IPS panel consistently delivers crisp, clear hues from various viewpoints.
- 180Hz Refresh Rate and 1ms response time (GtG) allow fast reactions for ultra-smooth gaming, plus G-Sync compatibility syncs the GPU and panel to reduce choppiness, screen lag, and image tearing.
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadows for added depth.
Why the deal attracted attention
A 27-inch 1440p monitor at 180Hz targets the middle ground between conventional 1080p gaming displays and more expensive high-resolution models. QHD gives a sharper desktop and game image than 1080p at the same screen size, while 180Hz can provide more headroom for high-frame-rate play when your graphics card can deliver it.
The important qualification is the price: Slickdeals reported $149.99 only for Samsung Employee Purchase Program (EPP) and Education (EDU) members on September 8, 2026. That listing is a dated deal report rather than a live retailer checkout, so it does not establish today’s price, stock or universal eligibility.
Rank #2
- QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadow for added depth - making every scene feel more vivid and realistic
- The 180Hz refresh rate minimizes lag for gameplay with ultra-smooth action. Plus, the 1ms response time helps capture your moves in real-time, allowing you to react fast for gaming precision
- AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
- Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort
Check the listing before you buy
- Confirm the model suffix. Look for LS27DG500ENXZA and the G50D name. Samsung’s G5 and G3 lines include other 27-inch products with similar naming.
- Check your account eligibility. The reported $149.99 price was restricted to Samsung EPP/EDU members.
- Read the checkout total. Verify the current price, shipping, tax, return terms and stock status; the September deal does not prove an October offer.
- Match your hardware. To benefit from 180Hz at 1440p, your computer and connection must produce a sufficiently high frame rate. Adaptive sync can reduce tearing when frame rates vary, but it cannot create additional performance.

Because the alternatives do not have complete, comparable measurements here, the table cannot establish which monitor has better contrast, brightness, response behavior or color accuracy.

Who should consider the G50D
It makes sense if you want
- A 27-inch QHD screen rather than 1080p at this size.
- A high-refresh gaming display rated up to 180Hz.
- Adaptive-sync support for compatible graphics hardware.
- A compelling purchase price and you qualify for the Samsung EPP or EDU offer when it is active.
Pause if you need
- A guaranteed $150 price available to every shopper.
- Verified comparative test results for brightness, contrast, color or response time.
- Certainty that the exact LS27DG500ENXZA is in stock on Amazon or at another retailer today.
Bottom line on the $150 claim
The G50D is a credible value at $149.99 if that exact model is still available to an eligible Samsung EPP/EDU member. As of October 2, 2026, the cited evidence does not verify a live Amazon price, current stock or an offer open to the general public. Treat $150 as a dated, eligibility-restricted deal—not a standing retail price—and verify LS27DG500ENXZA at checkout.
