Samsung remained the leader in the latest located quarterly DRAM revenue-share data, while Micron moved within 1.6 percentage points of SK hynix. In TrendForce’s 2Q26 figures, Samsung held 39.4% share, SK hynix 24.9% and Micron 23.3%—so Micron was still third, not ahead of SK hynix.

What the DRAM market-share figures show

The comparison is based on quarterly DRAM revenue share: each supplier’s portion of total DRAM industry revenue for the period. TrendForce published the 2Q26 breakdown on September 7, 2026.

Supplier 2Q26 DRAM revenue share Position
Samsung 39.4% First
SK hynix 24.9% Second
Micron 23.3% Third

Micron trailed SK hynix by 1.6 percentage points in 2Q26, calculated from TrendForce’s reported shares. Samsung’s lead over both companies remained substantial. These figures describe revenue share—not production capacity, DRAM bit shipments, or market capitalization. TrendForce’s 2Q26 release is the source for the quarter’s shares and analysis.

How much the SK hynix–Micron gap narrowed

TrendForce’s three quarterly snapshots show the revenue-share gap shrinking from 9.7 percentage points in 4Q25 to 1.6 points in 2Q26. The gap is calculated by subtracting Micron’s share from SK hynix’s share in each quarter.

The shares come from TrendForce’s 4Q25 release, 1Q26 release and 2Q26 release. They are quarter-specific readings, not a forecast or proof that Micron has overtaken SK hynix. In 2Q26, revenue grew sequentially for all three suppliers, but their shares changed at different rates.

Why supplier shares shifted in 2Q26

TrendForce reported that total DRAM industry revenue rose 59.5% sequentially in 2Q26 as traditional DRAM contract prices increased sharply. It linked demand to AI servers and shipments of HBM3e, LPDDR5X and high-capacity RDIMMs; demand associated with agentic AI also supported RDIMM demand across capacities. TrendForce said supplier inventories were at historically low levels and that additional supply was mainly allocated to servers, while aggregate DRAM bit shipments grew only modestly.

Samsung

TrendForce attributed Samsung’s strongest bit-shipment growth among the three major suppliers, early HBM4 mass production and shipments, and a substantial average selling price (ASP) increase to its quarter. Those factors helped Samsung lead the reported revenue-share ranking.

SK hynix

TrendForce said SK hynix had the highest HBM share of total bit shipments among the top three suppliers. It described that mix as a factor that relatively limited SK hynix’s ASP growth in the quarter; the company nevertheless retained second place by DRAM revenue share.

Micron

TrendForce said Micron prioritized higher-priced server DRAM amid capacity constraints. That helps explain its reported revenue performance, but does not establish a broader ranking in output, shipments or overall competitiveness.

Earlier quarters show why a revenue-share movement should be read in context. TrendForce said Samsung’s 4Q25 recovery followed stronger pricing and revenue growth, while Micron’s share fell amid lower sequential bit shipments and comparatively lower realized pricing. For 1Q26, it pointed to Samsung’s ASP growth and server DRAM revenue contribution, and said SK hynix’s HBM mix moderated its overall ASP growth.

What the latest data does—and does not—establish

The latest quarterly supplier-share breakdown located here is for 2Q26, published September 7, 2026. TrendForce’s September 4 3Q26 DRAM industry analysis listing and its September 30 weekly market bulletin offer newer market context, including continued AI-server demand, tight supply, consumer affordability pressure, server DRAM buying and low stocks. Neither is a finalized 3Q26 supplier-share table, so it cannot establish whether the 2Q26 ranking or gap persisted.

Revenue share combines the effects of pricing and sales mix as well as shipments. ASP movement, bit shipments, revenue growth, HBM mix and server demand can help explain a quarter’s result, but each is a distinct measure. TrendForce’s account of 2Q26 is an explanation of that quarter’s reported movements, not an independent assessment of the companies’ overall competitiveness.
