Samsung announced the 98-inch Class Crystal 4K TV (DU9000) for the 2024 U.S. lineup on April 15, 2024. The UN98DU9000F/UN98DU9000FXZA is a 4K smart TV with Samsung’s Crystal Processor 4K, upscaling, HDR support and gaming features including up to 120Hz motion processing. Its announced U.S. launch price was $3,999.99, while current pricing, inventory and regional model numbers can differ.
What is the Samsung DU9000 98-inch TV?
The DU9000 is Samsung’s 98-inch Crystal UHD television for the 2024 U.S. range. The U.S. product identifiers are UN98DU9000F and UN98DU9000FXZA. It combines a very large 4K screen with Samsung’s Tizen smart-TV platform rather than positioning itself as a premium OLED or Neo QLED model.
Samsung’s launch announcement described rapidly growing demand for 98-inch sets: nearly 15 times year-over-year growth in industry 98-inch TV sales, according to James Fishler, senior vice president of Home Entertainment at Samsung Electronics America. Fishler said, “Just a few years ago, 65” TVs were considered ‘big.’ Today, people want even bigger screens.”

Samsung Electronics America announced a U.S. launch price of $3,999.99 on April 15, 2024, with availability through Samsung.com and select retailers. Picture and processing features
- 4K resolution: The 98-inch panel is designed for Ultra HD content.
- Crystal Processor 4K: Samsung’s image processor handles picture processing and 4K upscaling for lower-resolution sources.

- HDR and HDR10+: The television supports HDR formats listed by Samsung, including HDR10+.

Samsung’s published specifications do not establish measured brightness, contrast, black levels or viewing-angle performance. Those characteristics should not be inferred from the feature names alone.
Refresh rate and gaming
Motion Xcelerator is specified up to 120Hz. Samsung also lists a Game Bar and gaming tools such as AI Auto Game Mode, Mini Map Auto Detection and Virtual Aim Point. These features can make console and PC play easier to configure, but the available product information does not provide independent input-lag measurements, supported resolutions at each refresh rate or variable-refresh-rate test results.

Three HDMI inputs are adequate for a simple setup, but a home theater with several consoles, a soundbar connection and a media player may need an HDMI switch or receiver. Confirm the exact HDMI feature set for the regional model; the cited specifications do not detail every bandwidth, eARC or gaming-mode limitation.

What to check before buying a 98-inch TV
1. Viewing distance and room scale
Measure the seating distance and the wall or furniture where the screen will go. A 98-inch diagonal creates a substantially larger field of view than a 65- or 75-inch set, so the room should allow comfortable viewing without forcing seats too close.
2. Delivery, access and installation
- Measure doorways, hallways, stair turns and elevator dimensions.
- Confirm whether the retailer’s delivery service carries and unpacks a 98-inch panel.
- Check wall construction and use a heavy-duty mount rated for the television’s actual weight.
- Verify the TV’s VESA pattern and mounting hardware requirements before buying a mount.
- Plan stand placement if the wall cannot support the load, including furniture width and floor stability.
3. Picture expectations
Compare each candidate’s processor, upscaling approach and HDR formats, then look for independent measurements if brightness, contrast or viewing angle matters to your room. The DU9000’s published feature list alone does not substitute for laboratory results.

4. Gaming connections
Count your consoles and PCs against the three listed HDMI ports. Check the exact model’s supported refresh rates, resolution combinations, eARC behavior and variable-refresh features before assuming that every gaming function operates at 4K/120Hz.

5. Audio and ecosystem
Q-Symphony and OTS Lite make the DU9000 a natural match for compatible Samsung audio equipment. If you already use another brand’s soundbar or receiver, verify connection standards and channel-handling requirements rather than relying on the feature name.
6. Price, warranty and regional model number
Compare the current delivered price, installation cost, return policy and warranty. Match the full model suffix to your country because regional versions, ports, tuners and included accessories can vary.
Who should consider the DU9000?
The DU9000 fits buyers who want a very large 4K Samsung smart TV and value Samsung’s Tizen ecosystem, upscaling and gaming interface. It is less suitable for shoppers who require independently verified brightness, contrast, input lag or long-term reliability data before committing to a large purchase, because those measurements are not established in the published material.
