Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance are among six Samsung affiliates investing a combined US$1 billion in Helix Digital Infrastructure, an AI infrastructure company established by KKR. Samsung disclosed no individual investment amount for either insurer: Samsung Electronics accounts for US$500 million, while the other five affiliates collectively account for the remaining US$500 million.
What Samsung announced
On 29 September 2026, Samsung said Samsung Electronics, Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance, and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance would invest a total of US$1 billion in Helix Digital Infrastructure. The commitment is an investment in Helix, not an insurance product or a consumer offering.
Samsung’s announcement identifies the aggregate investment and the participating affiliates, but it does not report the transaction’s closing date or the investors’ ultimate ownership percentages. Samsung Newsroom India published the announcement on 29 September 2026.

The announcement does not state an individual contribution for Samsung Life Insurance or Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance. It gives one amount for Samsung Electronics and a combined amount for the five other participating affiliates:

That collective figure cannot be used to calculate either insurer’s contribution: Samsung did not break down the five affiliates’ shares. It would be inaccurate to divide the remainder evenly or assign a specific amount to either insurance company.
What Helix does
Samsung describes Helix as an AI infrastructure provider designed to connect multiple parts of the infrastructure supply chain. Its stated scope includes developing and operating hyperscale data centers, power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure, and fiber-optic networks. Samsung says Helix launched in June 2026.

Yonhap reported that Helix launched with KKR, Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA, and Vistra as backers. It describes NVIDIA as a strategic partner and Vistra as Helix’s preferred power partner; it also reports Samsung’s affiliates are joining as founding investors through this investment. Yonhap’s report was published on 29 September 2026.

The insurers are named participants in a group investment alongside four other Samsung affiliates. The announcement does not describe a separate insurance-focused role for Samsung Life or Samsung Fire, nor does it say that the investment changes insurance policies or services. Its stated context is participation in Helix’s broader AI infrastructure build-out.

The announcement also does not establish Helix’s future construction schedule, project locations, investment returns, or the eventual ownership stake of any Samsung affiliate. The stated infrastructure scope explains what Helix is intended to cover; it does not by itself establish specific outcomes or a timetable.
