Samsung Gallery no longer syncs directly with OneDrive. Microsoft ended the integration on September 30, 2026, so new photos will not be uploaded through Gallery. To back up new photos and videos, turn on Camera backup in the OneDrive Android app; to see existing OneDrive photos in Samsung Gallery, download copies to your phone.
What happened to Samsung Gallery and OneDrive sync?
Microsoft says that, starting September 30, 2026, Samsung Gallery no longer syncs directly with OneDrive. New users also can no longer link the apps. The former Gallery integration synchronized changes in both directions, including deletions. Microsoft’s change notice was last updated May 14, 2026.
The change did not delete files already stored in OneDrive. Those files remain accessible in the OneDrive app and at onedrive.com, but Samsung Gallery no longer displays them through the integration. Samsung’s September 29, 2026 discontinuation notice explains how to download copies before the service ends.

Camera backup uploads photos and videos from your phone to OneDrive. It is the available route for ongoing uploads, but it is not a replacement for Gallery’s two-way sync: it does not mirror deletions between your phone and cloud storage.

Open the OneDrive app on your Samsung phone.

Tap your account profile image, then choose Camera backup. Menu wording can vary by app or phone version.

Turn on Camera backup and confirm that the Microsoft account shown is the one where you want your files stored. Camera backup works with one account at a time.

When Android asks, allow OneDrive access to photos and videos. Microsoft says this permission is needed for backup to run continuously in the background.

If you also want folders used by other apps—such as social or editing apps—to upload, open OneDrive settings, go to Camera backup, then Back up device folders, and select the folders you need.

For uploads to appear, Camera backup must be on, OneDrive needs photo and video access, and the selected account must have available storage. If backup does not run, check those settings along with your internet connection. See Microsoft’s OneDrive for Android instructions.
How to get OneDrive photos back into Samsung Gallery
To display cloud-stored originals in Gallery, download them to the phone. Samsung describes using Gallery’s Download Originals function, downloading individual media items, or downloading albums through Gallery settings. Available options and labels may differ by device and software version.

Downloaded items are local copies and use phone storage. Make sure the device has enough free space for the photos or albums you select. If you do not need them visible in Gallery, you can leave them in OneDrive and access them there instead.

Understand the difference before deleting anything

Do not assume that removing a phone copy will also remove its cloud copy, or that deleting a cloud file will remove a downloaded copy. Camera backup is an upload feature, not a two-way mirror. Microsoft explains its behavior in its Android backup guidance.

Who could use the old integration?
Even before it ended, Gallery linking was not available to every Samsung owner. Availability depended on the phone model, carrier, and market, and Microsoft limited linking to personal OneDrive accounts—not work or school accounts. Samsung notes that Gallery settings can vary by device and carrier in its Gallery support information.
