The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and vivo V70 Elite serve different needs: the Fold8 opens into a 7.6-inch screen for reading and multitasking, while the V70 Elite is a conventional 6.59-inch phone with a larger stated battery and 90 W charging. In India, the Fold8’s published launch prices are much higher, but those are not directly comparable with later observed vivo store listings.

How the two phones differ in everyday use
Foldable screen versus a conventional phone
The Fold8’s main reason to exist is its foldable inner display: unfolded, its 7.6-inch screen and 4:3 layout provide more room for reading, viewing content, and using apps side by side than the V70 Elite’s 6.59-inch panel. The vivo is a conventional phone, so it avoids the foldable format and is the more straightforward choice if a standard handset is what you want. Display size alone does not establish which screen is better in brightness, durability, or image quality.
Performance platforms
The phones use different Snapdragon platforms: the Fold8 has Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, while the V70 Elite has Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. Those names identify different processor configurations, but they do not by themselves establish the speed of either phone in a particular app or workload. No comparable independent performance results are established here.

On stated typical capacity, the V70 Elite’s 6,500 mAh battery is larger than the Fold8’s 4,800 mAh. vivo also lists 90 W charging; Samsung states up to 26 hours of video playback for the Fold8. Capacity, charging wattage, and a manufacturer playback estimate are different measures, so they do not establish a like-for-like battery-life result. Actual endurance depends on usage and conditions.

Camera configuration
The V70 Elite has three rear cameras, including a dedicated 50 MP telephoto camera; Samsung lists a dual 50 MP wide and ultra-wide system for the Fold8. This describes the hardware configuration, not comparative photo quality. Megapixel counts and camera labels alone cannot show which phone takes better pictures in real scenes.
India prices and configuration differences
The available figures use different price bases: Samsung’s are India launch prices, while vivo’s are observed official-store listings. They are not a synchronized current-price comparison.

The closest listed storage match is 256GB, but even that comparison pairs the Fold8’s 12GB RAM launch configuration with vivo listings at two RAM capacities and different price timing. Check both sellers for current prices, stock, and exact configuration before buying. The V70 Elite’s cited store listing does not establish a comparable current 512GB price.

A separate India launch-price comparison reported ₹51,999 for the V70 Elite. Against the Fold8’s ₹179,999 base launch price, that produces a ₹128,000 launch-price gap between base configurations. Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 if
- You specifically want a book-style foldable with a larger inner screen for reading, viewing, or multitasking.
- You are comfortable with the substantially higher India launch prices listed for its storage configurations.
Choose the vivo V70 Elite if
- You prefer a conventional smartphone rather than a foldable.
- You value its larger stated typical battery capacity and 90 W charging specification.
- You want a lower-cost option based on the cited India price information, while checking a same-day listing before deciding.
