The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is a foldable with an 8-inch unfolded main display; the Google Pixel 11 Pro XL is a conventional phone with a 6.8-inch display. In the cited US prices, Samsung’s 256GB Fold8 Ultra was listed at $1,849.99 on sale, while Google announced the Pixel 11 Pro XL at $1,299 to start. That is a $550.99 difference, but it compares a live Samsung sale listing with Google’s announced starting price—not two matched checkout prices.
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra vs. Pixel 11 Pro XL: what is the main difference?
The key choice is between a phone that opens into a larger workspace and a single-screen slab. Samsung describes the Fold8 Ultra’s main display as 8 inches; Google lists the Pixel 11 Pro XL display at 6.8 inches. If you want a larger screen for viewing or working with apps, the Fold’s format is the defining distinction. If you prefer a conventional phone, the Pixel avoids the foldable design.

These are manufacturer specifications and product descriptions, not results from matched hands-on testing. A larger display alone does not establish that one phone is more productive or easier to use.
How much more does the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra cost?
For US buyers, Samsung’s product page showed the unlocked 256GB Fold8 Ultra at $1,849.99 on sale, with a displayed prior price of $2,099.99. Google announced a $1,299 starting price for the Pixel 11 Pro XL. The difference between those cited figures is $550.99; using Samsung’s displayed prior price instead makes the gap $800.99. These figures are not a like-for-like live checkout comparison: Samsung’s is a sale listing, while Google’s is an announced starting price. Taxes, trade-ins, storage, carrier terms, stock, and changing offers affect the amount a buyer pays.

The figures above are manufacturer specifications, not a matched comparison of real-world battery life, charging time, speed, or camera results. In particular, megapixel counts do not show which phone takes better photos. The published camera configurations do show different options: Google lists a dedicated 5x telephoto, while Samsung’s cited launch announcement lists a high-resolution main camera and an ultrawide.

Which phone fits your priorities?
Choose the Fold8 Ultra if the unfolded workspace is worth the price difference to you
The Fold8 Ultra is the more relevant option if you specifically want a foldable that opens to an 8-inch main display. Samsung positions that display as a larger workspace, but the cited specifications do not establish how it performs for any particular workload. Decide whether you will use the unfolded screen enough to justify the higher cited 256GB listing, and check the price for your preferred storage tier.
Consider the Pixel 11 Pro XL if you want a conventional phone and its listed features
The Pixel is a straightforward fit for shoppers who prefer a single-screen phone and value the listed 5x telephoto, Qi2.2 wireless charging, and Google’s stated seven-year update period. Those specifications do not, by themselves, prove better photos, battery life, or overall value; they identify features to weigh against your needs and current price.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do either phone include a charger?
Samsung’s US listing says the Fold8 Ultra package includes the phone, data cable, and ejection pin, but not a charger. Google says a compatible 45W USB-C PPS charger or higher is sold separately for its stated charging speeds. Check charger compatibility and the current package contents when ordering; the cited sources do not establish what other retailers include.
For cases or screen protectors, verify that the product listing names the exact phone model. A foldable’s display and form factor make model compatibility especially important.
