The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Xiaomi 18 Fold have nearly identical listed screen diagonals, but the available specifications do not establish an overall winner. Samsung lists a 5.5-inch cover screen and 7.6-inch main screen; Xiaomi’s launch information lists 5.38-inch and 7.58-inch screens. Their unfolded screen proportions differ, and the available starting prices come from different markets: $1,899.99 before trade-in in the US for Samsung, versus RMB 10,999 in China for Xiaomi. Those figures are not a like-for-like price comparison.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 vs Xiaomi 18 Fold specs
The figures below come from Samsung product and launch information and Xiaomi launch information. They are published specifications, not results from independent testing. “Not stated” means the sources used for this comparison did not establish a figure; it does not mean the device lacks that feature.

How do the displays compare?
Cover screens
The listed diagonal differs by 0.12 inch: 5.5 inches for Samsung and 5.38 inches for Xiaomi. That small diagonal gap alone cannot tell you which phone is easier to use while folded. The cited material does not establish screen width, resolution, aspect ratio, or how either cover display feels in hand.

Inner screens
The listed inner-display diagonals are also close, differing by 0.02 inch: Samsung lists 7.6 inches and Xiaomi launch information lists 7.58 inches. The more meaningful stated distinction is proportion: Samsung describes a 4:3 unfolded display, while Xiaomi launch information describes a 2:1 internal screen. Aspect ratio affects the shape of the usable area, but these sources do not establish app behavior, multitasking limits, or viewing quality. A diagonal measurement by itself is not enough to determine which layout better suits your work or media.

What is the price difference?
There is no defensible single price difference between these two figures. Samsung US lists the Galaxy Z Fold 8 from $1,899.99 before trade-in; the Xiaomi China Store lists the Xiaomi 18 Fold from RMB 10,999. Those are starting prices in different markets and currencies, not comparable local checkout totals. The Samsung page also advertises time-limited promotional and carrier deals, which can change what eligible buyers pay.
For a meaningful comparison, check both devices in the same country and on the same date. Compare the same storage configuration, then include local taxes, shipping, trade-in eligibility, promotional conditions, and any import costs. The cited sources do not establish a conversion-based global price gap or a Xiaomi price in other markets.
Which one can you buy where you live?
Samsung said sales began August 7, 2026, in select markets and would expand globally. That announcement does not guarantee sale or support in every country. Xiaomi’s cited price is from its China store, and the available material does not establish retail availability or ownership terms for readers elsewhere.

Before buying an imported Xiaomi 18 Fold, verify the following with the seller or manufacturer for your specific country:
- Whether the exact model supports your carrier’s cellular bands and services.
- Whether the device has a local manufacturer warranty, and where warranty repairs must be handled.
- Whether replacement parts and foldable-screen repairs are available locally.
- What software-update commitment applies to that model and market.
- The final price after shipping, taxes, import charges, and any seller fees.
What the known specs can—and cannot—tell you
Battery, cameras, and performance
Xiaomi’s launch information names a 6000mAh battery, an XRing O3 processor, and the Leica-branded camera setup shown in the comparison table. These are manufacturer launch claims; the cited information does not establish real-world battery life, camera quality, processor performance, or charging speed. A battery-capacity figure is not a runtime measurement, and camera megapixels and focal length do not by themselves predict image quality.
The cited Samsung sources do not provide corresponding battery, processor, or camera specifications for this comparison. That leaves no supported basis here for a head-to-head verdict on endurance, speed, or photography.
Rank #3
- Versatile Camera System: High-quality photography with multiple lenses and modes.
- One UI Software: User-friendly interface for an intuitive and seamless experience.
- Foldable Tablet Experience: Combines phone and tablet functionality seamlessly.
- Multi-Window App Continuity: Run multiple apps simultaneously for efficient multitasking.
- Built to last, the Fold5 includes IPX8 water resistance, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, an Armor Aluminum hinge, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and support for S Pen (sold separately) — combining rugged engineering with productivity.
Other ownership factors
The cited material does not provide a matched specification set for weight, folded thickness, memory and storage configurations, charging, water or dust protection, hinge durability, software-update support, or repair terms. These can materially affect daily use and long-term ownership, so check official, market-specific specification and support information before deciding. No independent head-to-head benchmark or independently measured durability result is established by the sources cited here.
Which foldable should you choose?
Choose based on verified local availability, the shape and feel of the screens in person, and the complete price and support terms for your market—not on the small difference in listed screen diagonals. The current evidence supports a straightforward spec comparison, but it does not support declaring either phone the better overall device.
