Choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra for the broadest listed rear-camera setup and dedicated 3x optical zoom, the Z Fold8 for a book-style foldable with two 50 MP rear cameras, or the Z Flip8 for compact handling and Samsung’s flexible-angle FlexCam features. These are recommendations based on Samsung’s published specifications and feature descriptions—not a ranking from independent camera tests. Megapixel counts and camera breadth alone cannot establish which phone takes better photos in every situation.
How the three foldables differ as cameras
Samsung’s specifications show three distinct approaches: the Fold8 Ultra adds a dedicated telephoto camera, the Fold8 pairs two 50 MP rear cameras, and the Flip8 combines a 50 MP main camera with a compact foldable design and Samsung-described FlexCam workflows. These figures are manufacturer specifications, not a controlled comparison of image quality. Sensor size, lens design, image processing, focus, stabilization, movement, and lighting all affect the finished photo. A 200 MP label does not guarantee a sharper result, and digital zoom is not equivalent to optical zoom. Samsung’s regional specifications and model identifiers may differ; the figures above follow the company’s Germany comparison, which lists models SM-F976B, SM-F971B, and SM-F776B for the Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 respectively. Which model suits your shooting style?
Choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra for optical reach and camera flexibility
The Ultra is the clearest choice if you often photograph subjects at a distance and want a dedicated telephoto camera. Samsung lists a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, alongside a 200 MP main camera and 50 MP ultra-wide. Its Germany specifications also list OIS on the main and telephoto cameras. This is the most complete listed rear-camera configuration of the three, but it does not prove the Ultra will outperform the others in every lighting or motion condition.

Samsung says the 200 MP camera supports HDR in 200 MP mode, promising “richer detail, color and clarity.” That is Samsung’s product claim, not an independently verified result. The company’s U.S. launch announcement describes the feature.
Choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 for a dual-camera book-style foldable
The Fold8 has a 50 MP wide camera and a 50 MP ultra-wide camera, with OIS listed for the main camera. Samsung’s comparison does not list a dedicated telephoto module, so it is a better fit for people whose usual framing relies on the main and ultra-wide cameras than for those seeking optical telephoto reach.

Choose the Galaxy Z Flip8 for compact handling and flexible angles
The Flip8’s listed rear cameras are a 50 MP main camera and a 12 MP ultra-wide, with OIS on the main camera. Samsung positions the phone around its compact Flip form and FlexCam experiences for photos and video from flexible angles. That may appeal if you want to set up a shot or record yourself without holding the phone in a conventional upright position. FlexCam is Samsung’s described capability; its performance and ease of use are not independently tested here.

Creator features Samsung describes across the lineup
Samsung’s launch announcement describes two features aimed at video and social creators:
- Dual Recording: captures both the action and the user’s reaction.
- My FanCam: automatically tracks and reframes a selected subject.
These are Samsung’s feature descriptions, not verified claims about tracking accuracy, audio quality, heat management, or video performance. Availability and behavior can depend on the market, model, and software version, so check the feature details for the specific phone sold in your region.

Availability and regional specifications
Samsung announced the phones on August 5, 2026, saying sales began August 7 in select markets and would expand globally. Those dates describe the U.S. announcement, not a guarantee of local availability. Samsung Canada’s specifications page applies to Canadian devices, while Samsung Germany’s comparison identifies specific European model variants. Confirm the specifications and model number for the handset sold in your market before relying on a regional camera listing.
