Choose the Galaxy Watch8 Classic if you want a rotating bezel, conventional watch styling and a lower listed U.S. starting price. Choose the 47mm Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) if you value its titanium construction, higher water-resistance rating and longer battery estimates. The comparison below uses Samsung’s published specifications and estimates, not independent testing.

Samsung’s battery figures are estimates, and actual runtime depends on settings and use. The prices above are U.S. MSRP figures from Samsung’s March 2026 price sheet, not current retailer quotes. Samsung’s U.S. comparison page lists the headline specifications; the U.S. band compatibility guidance explains the different attachment systems.
Which design and controls suit you?
Choose the Classic for its rotating bezel
The Watch8 Classic is the more traditional-looking option, with a 46mm stainless steel case and a rotating bezel for navigation. Samsung also lists a quick button. Its 1.34-inch Super AMOLED display has a 438 × 438 resolution; the model is offered in Black or White. These details make it the more natural fit if the bezel and classic styling matter more to you than a rugged exterior. Samsung’s Watch8 series announcement gives the Classic’s launch specifications.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsChoose the Ultra for a more rugged build
The 47mm Watch Ultra (2025) has a Grade 4 titanium case and a cushion-shaped design, along with a quick button. It is the more outdoor-oriented choice on paper, but its larger nominal case size and distinctive shape may be less appealing if you want a conventional watch appearance. Neither case material nor the product name alone establishes how a watch will hold up to every kind of impact or use.

How much longer does the Ultra’s battery last?
Samsung lists a 445mAh battery and up to 30 hours with AOD on for the Watch8 Classic. For the Ultra, Samsung lists 590mAh and up to 60 hours with AOD on; it also gives estimates of up to 100 hours in Power Saving Mode and up to 48 hours in Exercise Power Saving Mode. On Samsung’s stated figures, the Ultra is the stronger choice for longer stretches away from a charger. These are manufacturer estimates, not independent measurements, and real runtime varies with use and settings. Samsung’s U.S. Ultra product page lists the battery estimates.
What do the durability ratings mean?
Samsung lists both watches as IP68 and MIL-STD-810H rated; the Classic is also listed at 5 ATM, while the Ultra is listed at 10 ATM. The Ultra therefore has the higher stated ATM rating, but these labels are not a promise that either watch is indestructible or suitable for every water, pressure or impact scenario. Follow Samsung’s care and use guidance for the exact model rather than treating a rating as blanket protection.

Are the display, storage and software different?
Samsung lists both watches with 2GB of memory, 64GB of storage and a maximum display brightness of 3,000 nits, so these headline specifications do not separate the two in this comparison. The Classic runs Wear OS 6 with One UI 8 Watch. Samsung announced the Watch8 series on July 9, 2025, with general availability beginning July 25 in select markets; availability and configurations vary by region.

Both are Android smartwatches, but compatibility is not identical to having every feature available. Samsung’s Watch8 series announcement specifies Android 12 or later and more than 1.5GB of memory for a paired phone, and says activation requires a smartphone that supports Google Mobile Services. Samsung also notes that some Ultra features are unavailable when paired with non-Samsung Android phones. Check the exact model, country, carrier and phone before buying, especially if you need a particular health function.

How do the U.S. prices compare?
Samsung’s U.S. MSRP sheet effective March 2026 lists the Watch8 Classic at $499.99 for Bluetooth and $549.99 for LTE, and the Galaxy Watch Ultra LTE at $649.99. The Classic therefore has the lower listed entry price and LTE MSRP in these figures. MSRP is not a live retail price: discounts, stock and configurations can differ by seller and change over time. Band compatibility
Watch8 and Watch8 Classic bands are mutually compatible, but Samsung says their new attachment mechanism does not fit bands from previously released Galaxy Watch models. The Ultra uses dedicated bands with a 34mm connection width and does not accept previously released Galaxy Watch bands. If you already own bands or plan to buy replacements, confirm they are made for the exact watch line before ordering.

Health features and limits
Samsung describes capabilities including sleep tracking, sleep-apnea risk assessment, ECG, heart-rate monitoring and blood-pressure tracking. Availability can depend on the watch, paired phone, market and setup. For blood-pressure readings, Samsung says a third-party cuff sold separately is required for initial calibration and periodic recalibration every 28 days. Samsung says the feature is not intended to diagnose or treat a condition; its health and wellness functions are not a substitute for medical advice or diagnosis. See Samsung’s Ultra page for its feature and calibration information.
