Choose the Galaxy Watch7 if you want its newer processor, double the listed storage, dual-frequency GPS, or Samsung’s additional listed health features. Choose the Galaxy Watch6 if it costs meaningfully less and its shared battery capacities, core health tools, and protection ratings cover your needs. If their prices are close, compare both with newer Galaxy Watch models and check the exact size and Bluetooth or LTE version before buying. These recommendations are based on Samsung’s published specifications, not independent performance or battery testing.

Sources: Samsung US’s Watch7 and Watch6 comparison and Samsung UK’s regional comparison. Samsung UK lists Watch6’s processor at 1.18 GHz, rather than the 1.4 GHz in the US table; clock speed is therefore identified here specifically as the US-listed figure, not a universal value.
What Watch7 adds
A newer processor and more storage
Samsung lists Watch7’s Exynos W1000 as a five-core, 3 nm chip and Watch6’s Exynos W920 as a dual-core, 5 nm chip. The US table lists their speeds as 1.6 GHz and 1.4 GHz, respectively. Dual-frequency GPS
Watch7 supports L1+L5 GPS, while Watch6 is listed with L1. That is a hardware specification difference, not proof of a particular improvement in route accuracy or tracking in real-world conditions. Samsung’s published comparison does not quantify such an improvement.
Additional listed health features
Samsung’s comparison lists heart rate, irregular heart rhythm notifications, ECG, blood pressure, body composition, continuous SpO2, and skin temperature for both watches. It additionally lists sleep apnea and Energy Score for Watch7, and marks AGEs as a lab feature. Health-tool availability can depend on country, software, phone compatibility, and regulatory status; check Samsung’s current local support information for the specific feature you intend to use.

What the two watches have in common
Battery capacity is the same on paper
Samsung lists 300 mAh for the 40 mm version and 425 mAh for the 44 mm version of both watches. Capacity alone does not predict how long either watch lasts between charges, and the cited specifications do not establish which model has better everyday battery life.
Protection ratings match
Samsung lists 5ATM, IP68, and MIL-STD-810H for both. These ratings do not mean either watch is immune to every water exposure, impact, or condition; use the manufacturer’s guidance for the activity and environment.

Which should you buy?
Buy the Galaxy Watch7 if its upgrades matter to you
- You want the newer listed processor and 32 GB of storage.
- You want L1+L5 dual-frequency GPS as a specification, while recognizing that the comparison does not establish measured accuracy gains.
- You value Watch7’s additional listed health features and have confirmed that the features you want are available for your phone and region.
Buy the Galaxy Watch6 if it is substantially cheaper
Watch6 may be the better value when its live price is meaningfully lower and you are comfortable with its listed L1 GPS, 16 GB storage, and older processor. Its listed battery capacities, shared core health features, and protection ratings match Watch7’s.
Pause if the prices are close
Samsung UK’s smartwatch comparison catalog includes Watch7 and Watch6 alongside later Galaxy Watch generations. That establishes that newer models appear in the catalog, not that a particular model is in stock or available at a specific price. Compare current prices for the precise models you are considering before choosing between generations.
