The Galaxy Tab S8 is the easier model to carry; the Tab S8+ gives you a larger, higher-resolution Super AMOLED screen. Both are 2022 Android tablets with up-to-120Hz displays, an included S Pen, microSD expansion and Samsung DeX. Choose between them mainly on screen size and display type—not on an assumption that the S8+ lasts longer just because its battery is larger.
What’s the difference between the Galaxy Tab S8 and S8+?
The screen is the main distinction. Samsung’s 2022 specifications give the Tab S8 an 11-inch LTPS TFT panel and the S8+ a 12.4-inch Super AMOLED panel. Both support refresh rates up to 120Hz. The S8+ offers more viewing area and AMOLED’s deeper blacks; the S8 is the smaller, more portable choice.
| Specification | Galaxy Tab S8 | Galaxy Tab S8+ |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 11-inch LTPS TFT; 2560 × 1600; 276 ppi; up to 120Hz | 12.4-inch Super AMOLED; 2800 × 1752; 266 ppi; up to 120Hz |
| Typical battery capacity | 8,000mAh | 10,090mAh |
| Biometrics | Fingerprint scanner in the power button, according to Stuff’s 9 February 2022 review | Under-display fingerprint scanner, according to Stuff’s 9 February 2022 review |
| Memory and storage configurations | Depend on model and market; Samsung notes storage availability can differ. | |
| microSD expansion | Supported up to 1TB; card sold separately, according to Samsung’s specifications. | |

The listed battery figures are typical capacities, not measured battery-life results. They do not establish how long either tablet will run in a particular workload.

How do they feel to use?
In Stuff’s launch-era hands-on review, Basil Kronfli described thin Armour Aluminium frames, matte metal finishes and quad speakers across the devices. That review’s central trade-off was visible in everyday use: the S8’s conventional LTPS panel does not deliver the deeper blacks of the S8+’s AMOLED display, while its smaller screen makes the tablet less imposing to carry.

Both models use Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, as noted in the launch-era review. Samsung also positioned the series for multitasking and DeX, its desktop-style interface. The S Pen is included, but a keyboard cover is an optional accessory; Samsung’s US specification sheet says the keyboard is sold separately.
Is the Tab S8+ worth choosing for its bigger screen?
Choose the S8+ if you expect to read, watch video, draw or work across multiple windows on the tablet and value the larger AMOLED canvas. Its 12.4-inch panel has more physical area than the S8’s 11-inch display, and the difference in display technology matters if deep blacks are important to you.
Choose the S8 if portability is the priority or you do not need the larger AMOLED screen. It retains the shared headline features—up-to-120Hz refresh, S Pen support, microSD expansion and DeX—without making screen size the deciding factor. The S8+’s higher battery capacity may be useful, but capacity alone is not proof of longer real-world runtime.

Check what the listing includes
- Connectivity and storage: Verify the exact Wi-Fi or cellular variant and built-in storage; configurations differ across markets.
- Accessories: The S Pen is included in the launch configurations, but a keyboard cover is separate. Confirm what comes with the individual listing rather than assuming every retail bundle is identical.
- Expansion: Samsung lists microSD support up to 1TB; the card is separate. Check the card and device compatibility before buying.
- Charger and condition: Check the seller’s bundle and the tablet’s condition, since accessory inclusion and listing details are not established by the model name alone.
Verdict
The Galaxy Tab S8 is the sensible pick when a smaller tablet matters more than an AMOLED panel. The S8+ is the screen-first choice: it is larger, uses Super AMOLED and has a higher typical battery capacity, though that capacity does not prove longer runtime. In 2026, weigh either against the exact model’s software record, configuration, condition and current listing price rather than relying on launch-era pricing.
