Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12 lineup has two premium tablets: the 14.6-inch Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and the smaller, lighter 12.6-inch Galaxy Tab S12+. The Ultra offers the larger screen and storage configurations up to 1 TB; the Plus weighs less and starts at a lower reported US price. Both include an S Pen and use MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500, according to Samsung.
Samsung announced the tablets on September 30, 2026. US launch coverage reported availability from October 7, with starting prices of $1,200 for the S12+ and $1,400 for the Ultra. Those are launch-market figures, not guarantees of current pricing or availability.
Which Galaxy Tab S12 models did Samsung announce?
Samsung announced two models: the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+. There is no standard-size Galaxy Tab S12 model in the announced lineup. Samsung’s September 30, 2026 announcement presents the two tablets as premium devices focused on large displays and productivity.

For the display, Samsung’s product page specifies the Ultra’s resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. The S12+ resolution and refresh rate above come from TechRadar’s launch report; Samsung’s product materials give less technical detail for that model. Samsung lists peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits for the Ultra. Android Central’s launch coverage reports 120 Hz and up to 1,600 nits peak brightness for both models.

Which model should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra for maximum screen and storage
The Ultra is the better fit if you want the largest available S12 screen for drawing, split-screen work, or viewing documents and video. Its 14.6-inch panel is two inches larger diagonally than the Plus’s, and its storage configurations reach 1 TB. The trade-off is a bigger device at about 692 g, and the reported US launch starting price is $200 higher.
Choose the Galaxy Tab S12+ for a lighter, smaller tablet
The S12+ retains a large 12.6-inch display but is about 139 g lighter than the Ultra. It is the more portable option of the pair and has a lower reported US launch starting price. Its storage tops out at 512 GB in the configurations Samsung lists.
What performance and battery life does Samsung claim?
Samsung says the 3 nm Dimensity 9500 delivers, compared with the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, a 61% faster NPU, 19% faster CPU, and 17% faster GPU. These are Samsung’s manufacturer comparisons; no independent benchmark results are established here.

What comes in the box, and what accessories cost extra?
Samsung says each tablet includes an S Pen and USB-C to USB-C cable, but not a device charger. Its charging information refers to a 45 W Super Fast Charger sold separately. The S Pen is included, so buyers do not need to buy a basic pen separately to use the advertised stylus functions.
Samsung lists the following compatible accessories as separate purchases. Confirm the exact model and SKU before buying:

What Galaxy AI and software features are included?
Samsung describes a redesigned 3D vapor chamber and productivity tools including multi-window use and DeX. Its listed Galaxy AI features include Now Nudge, Ask anything in Samsung Browser, personalized Now Brief, Automated App Action, and Creative Studio. These are advertised capabilities, not a guarantee that every feature will suit a particular workflow.

Samsung says some AI features may require a Samsung account, internet access, a compatible language or region, or a paid third-party service. The applicable conditions vary by feature.

Samsung also states support for up to seven OS upgrades and security updates. That is a manufacturer support commitment; it does not by itself establish a specific end-of-support date.

Samsung lists offers for eligible Galaxy Tab S12 users that include four months of Adobe Photoshop premium mobile, six months of Notability Plus, six months of Clip Studio Paint EX, one month of Notion Business, and one year of Goodnotes Essential. Availability and terms can vary by market, and trial or subscription conditions should be checked at redemption.
Samsung says Photoshop for Tablet is scheduled to be exclusive to the Galaxy Store for at least six months beginning October 7, 2026; Adobe may release it in other app stores afterward. LumaFusion is a preloaded stub that requires purchase, with a time-limited discount described through November 30, 2026. These offers and app arrangements are time-sensitive and may depend on region and terms.
How much do the Galaxy Tab S12 tablets cost, and when are they available?
US launch reports from TechRadar and Android Central put the starting price at $1,200 for the Galaxy Tab S12+ and $1,400 for the S12 Ultra, with availability beginning October 7, 2026. Samsung’s official product page is the place to check configurations, while prices and stock can change; the reported US figures should not be applied to other countries.
Can a Galaxy Tab S12 replace a laptop?
Samsung says the Ultra can support laptop-like productivity with its large display, optional keyboard and trackpad, and DeX. The company also notes that a laptop may still be necessary for specialized software. Whether either tablet can replace your computer depends on the apps and workflows you need; the included S Pen alone does not make it a full laptop substitute.
