The display dimensions and launch prices point to the practical distinction: the Ultra is a larger workspace, whereas the Plus takes up less space and cost $200 less at the announced US starting prices. That is a size-and-budget trade-off, not a difference in the core AI feature set.

Choose the Ultra for a larger working canvas
The 14.6-inch display gives split-screen apps, large documents, and drawing more room. That can make the Ultra a better fit if you regularly keep reference material beside notes, work across multiple windows, or prefer a broad canvas for sketching. This is a use-case inference from its screen size, not a claim that Samsung’s software runs differently on the Ultra.

Choose the Plus if carrying the tablet matters more
The 12.4-inch Plus still offers a high-resolution AMOLED display, but its smaller screen is the more portable option of the two. It is the sensible choice if a tablet will often travel with you or you do not need the Ultra’s extra canvas. The available specifications here do not establish comparative tablet weights, so the size difference should not be read as a specific weight difference.
What Galaxy AI features do the tablets offer?
Samsung documents the following Galaxy AI capabilities for the Tab S10 series. They cover search, creative work, and handling written or recorded material:
- Find information on screen: Circle to Search lets you search from content displayed on the tablet.
- Turn sketches into images: Sketch to image, also called Drawing Assist, supports image creation from drawing input.
- Work with photos and galleries: Samsung lists AI tools for Gallery content.
- Translate on-screen content: Screen translation and PDF translation are listed capabilities.
- Transcribe and organize recordings: Voice Recorder transcription and Transcript assist are included in Samsung’s feature documentation, along with summaries and automatic formatting.
- Get help with calculations: Samsung lists math assist.
These features make either model suitable to consider for AI-assisted note-taking, document handling, and drawing. Samsung describes basic Galaxy AI features as free, but enhanced Samsung AI and third-party AI features may be subject to separate terms or fees. The availability and terms for an individual feature can vary; do not assume every AI function is permanently free or works identically in every region.

Is the S Pen included, and do you need a keyboard cover?
The S Pen comes with either tablet
Samsung bundles an S Pen with both the Tab S10 Ultra and Tab S10+. It supports note-taking, drawing, coloring, and Air Command. The pen attaches to the tablet to pair and charge, so most buyers do not need to budget for a separate stylus. A replacement or spare pen is relevant if the bundled one is lost or you want another.
A keyboard cover is optional
A compatible Book Cover Keyboard adds physical keys and a Galaxy AI key. It is an optional productivity accessory, not a requirement for using the tablet’s included S Pen or the documented AI features. It is most useful if you expect to type substantial amounts or want a more laptop-like setup; for handwriting, drawing, and touch use, the bundled tablet and pen may be enough.

As a dated US price reference, Samsung US listed a $199.99 MSRP in 2026 for the Book Cover Keyboard Slim with AI key for Tab S10 Ultra and S9 Ultra. That is a particular accessory’s MSRP, not a current universal sale price or a stated price for every S10-series keyboard. Check the exact tablet model and regional listing before buying a cover.

Samsung announced the Ultra in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB configurations; the Plus was announced in 256GB and 512GB configurations. The Ultra therefore has a higher announced maximum storage tier. The series announcement included Wi-Fi configurations for both tablets and a 5G version of the Plus through major US carriers. Cellular availability is regional, so confirm the model sold by your carrier or retailer rather than assuming every configuration is available everywhere.

Samsung Electronics said the Tab S10 Ultra improves CPU performance by 18%, GPU performance by 28%, and NPU performance by 14% compared with the Tab S9 Ultra. Those are Samsung’s 2024 stated comparisons against the previous Ultra generation, not independent benchmark results and not a direct Ultra-versus-Plus comparison. They do not establish how much faster one S10 model feels than the other in a particular app.
Samsung lists larger battery capacity for the Ultra, but capacity alone does not establish longer runtime. No independent battery-runtime test or long-term reliability study is established by the available official evidence. Both models support 45W fast charging; actual charging time and battery life will depend on use and conditions.
Which Galaxy Tab S10 should you buy?
- Pick the Tab S10 Ultra if you value the larger 14.6-inch canvas for split-screen work, drawing, or media, or want one of its announced higher storage tiers.
- Pick the Tab S10+ if the 12.4-inch display better suits a portable tablet and you do not need the Ultra’s extra screen area; its announced US starting price was lower.
- For AI note-taking or drawing, either model has the documented series AI tools and an included S Pen. Screen size, rather than a documented exclusive AI advantage, is the clearest reason to choose between them.
- For typing, add a keyboard cover only if physical keys fit your workflow, and verify compatibility with the exact model before purchase.
Samsung’s starting prices are launch figures from September 2024, not a guarantee of current pricing in October 2026. Retail pricing, inventory, model numbers, cellular availability, and AI feature terms can change by market and over time.
